Eurovision 2019

proactive

Enjoying a drop of red.
Tragically, we will be in the Dog & Doublet whilst this is on. I look forward to them not putting on big screens for the occasion.

I haven't watched this in earnest for some years but I was aware of Dana International and was amazed when I heard on the radio today that she won it 21 years ago.

Yes, 1998 is 21 years ago!!

My son and his girlfriend are having a Eurovision party tonight.
They sent me a picture of some biscuits that they've made and decorated.
I have to admire the time spent and attention to detail.

If you're not in the market for strange crowned women hurtling dangerously atop bendy poles, whilst screeching strangely about zero gravity, then i don't know what anybody really wants.

Go Australia!

Norway win the most Eurovision entry award, but fall at the final hurdle because they weren't suspended on the top of flexible poles.

Too many turgid ballads this year, i make it 10 in total, with perhaps another two or three that should be included but ruled out for only spurious reasons - including very much the UK entry, which is most disappointing.

Maybe it has been ever thus, but too many people were far too earnest this year n'est ce pas?

The Swedish entry was ruled *not a turgid ballad* despite being both turgid, and a ballad, on the spurious grounds that it wasn't *quite* turgid enough to be included in an overtly turgid field.

The Netherlands entry was firmly in the *turgid ballad* top 10.

WTF is going on with the Eurovision voting public?

I would have also accepted Greece, but only as a very reluctant third option.

Wondered if the FSB might have had a hand in the ‘public’ vote when Russia was awarded a massive 325 points and briefly held first place ?
