Lawn mowing is a fairly steady thing - and why shouldn't he use their mower? Do a few lawns, do a few cars and whatever else crops up. See how it grows.

I had a gang of 9 year olds knock on my door last year asking to clean my car. I asked how much they wanted, thinking a fiver in Tescos was a bargain. They had no idea, I suspect no-one had even got as far as asking before! I said I'd give them a couple of quid, and they washed it. Did a good job too. Even had my smallest lad out there with them "helping". Baby sitting and car cleaning!
But the moral of the story is that it would probably need a great deal of knocking on doors to get even one job. As any self respecting double glazing salesman will tell you.

This is a valid point. I have a ratio of approx 300 leaflets delivered to produce one job, but then that one job gives many good referrals of their friends family & work colleagues etc.

Word of mouth is the best way. It does take a bit longer to build - but you get better customers that way.

I advertised once, and I'll never do it again - what a crowd of nutters!

Thanks Shazbo, I noticed this t'other day, but it's completely the far side of town to us and he wouldn't have the time before school and would be too late starting for the ones afterwards.
Cheers though!

He's given me every penny so far to keep safe for him - says apart from keeping the odd couple of quid here and there that he'd rather save it towards his first moped. Bless him. I must have done something right on how I raised him after all! :)

well, no, if you'd raised him right he would be saving for a proper vehicle and not a scooter :teef:

i kid, i kid.. i'm impressed - £30 would have seemed like a king's ransom to me at that age!

Check with your local newsagents for delivery jobs.

You can also put up a flyer at the local newsagents for "odd jobs"... sweeping out garages, mowing lawns, trimming back really overgrown evergreens (wait, that's my list)... it's always good to have an odd job person around to help out.
