After struggling to work in the heat all day, I suddenly realised the fan had another two speeds and had been on the slowest speed 😂😂😂

My work iphone also decided enough was enough mid meeting!!!

I think there's something wrong with me, yes its warm, but it's not extreme! I swear other years have been hotter.... Maybe I've just been sensible though....

No work today, so apart from pegging out the washing, I didn't go outside till 2.30pm, then went to a nice cool supermarket.... Back by 3.30 & we then sat in the garden till 7pm...just right for me.

The house is cool as I have blinds halfway down... And plenty of cool drinks too. Not sure what all the bother is.

Son's down in Torquay at the moment and it's 10C cooler down there . Tonight it was only 24C in Torquay and 37C here in Worcester. The tarmac on our road was melting still at 7pm.
Our house is like an oven (probably because hubby had all the downstairs doors locked while he was working upstairs while I was out for hours). But luckily sons house was quite a lot cooler than ours when we had a walk around to check their hamster wasn't a baked hamster ...

Apparently it hit 35ºC in Bude yesterday, uncomfortably close to body temperature. My body clock has gone completely tits up, getting up as dawn breaks about 4 am. Got fans going in every room but they just seem to shuffle warm air around.

Staying out of the Sun, it seems pissed off about something.

Incredibly smug that I purchased an air conditioning unit last summer.

Put a digital thermometer on the patio table yesterday, it maxed out at 49.7 at 3pm. Back out there today to see if it can beat that.

Raining hard down here now. Thunderstorm weather .... wind has got up, temperature dropped. Much more pleasant ... (apart from the fact you might get a hundred million volts down your schnozzle .....)

Rather more civilised now, where I am, after 32℃ yesterday.

Down to 13℃ in the night and hovering around 20℃ now. We've even had a five minute shower of big drops - there is thunder about and we just got the edge of one of those. The edge of the thick cloud cover is a good way east and, if it doesn't clear here, we shouldn't get much over 22-23℃ later.

I've had air conditioning for over 30 years, wouldn't be without it. Started with a couple of portable units, then moved to a built in system around 15 or so years ago.

I upgraded the system 5 years ago and it copes effortlessly with these conditions. Currently running at 21℃ indoors. ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

The biggest risk, for me, at the moment, are power cuts, but I'm waiting on a home battery installation, which will include an Emergency Power Supply in the event of power cuts, to try and minimise the risk.

45C Now in the shade of the indoor plants  Put it there in the coolest place to stop the temperature gauge exploding . I've been in cooler saunas 🤣

We've had proper built in air con in blighty for 5 years now. In France the house first had a fitted AC system in 1970 by my gran, which lasted until 2019. I had a modern system fitted then and upgraded it to all rooms in the house. Mind you, down here AC is not seen as a luxury you could live without.

Well yesterday I spoke to soon, as today, after a lovely shift in a cool air-conditioned building the heat hit my like a wall, then having to sit in the cool car was nice, but my 20 min wait for my Dr's appointment was terrible, then back to the now red hot car as there was nowhere in the shade to park.

1 cold bath later & I only feel slightly better....

Down to 19℃ here now. Most of the windows are shut and I've put a jumper on, now that I have ceased "strenuous activities" for the day.
