No mention here of the Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy,
the family moving to Stafford, England, when Duffy was six years old. Her father worked for English Electric. He was also a trade unionist, and stood unsuccessfully as a parliamentary candidate for the Labour Party in 1983, managing Stafford Rangers football club in his spare time.[4] Duffy was educated in Stafford at Saint Austin's RC Primary School (1962–1967), St. Joseph's Convent School (1967–1970), and Stafford Girls' High School (1970–1974)
most remiss.

Early days recollected here.

I was pretty sure she had been mentioned somewhere but was not sure in what context it had been. In retrospect i should have done a ^Search.

To be quite frank i dredged it up to point people to the poem i labouriously typed out after having read the poem in a, what's it called now, ah yes, book. I did try and do a copy/paste job on account of a) being fantastically slow at typing, and b) it being an enormously long piece of work - all to no avail seeing as nobody else, it would appear, could be arsed to 'put it out there'.

I felt quite sure that many people would enjoy reading it, yet suspected that many more would think 'not another f***ing poem' and miss it, which i thought would be a shame.

If you know what i mean.

Famous and celebrity are surely two different beasts

Izaak Walton a celeb?

It seems quite possible to be famous but not be a celebrity. However, is the converse possible? Or is 'celebrity' a sub-set of 'famous'?.

I once had a brief starring role on the news as "bored person stuck at airport" - does that count?

The guy from apple who designed the iphone and ipad was a stafford lad....
So that would be famous

As most of us probably wouldnt recognise him in the street does that relieve him of celebrity status?
