I don't believe in burning bridges. As far as I'm concerned, my exes and I still have exactly the same relationship as we always did, except that now we would only have sex with each other for money.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls:

Presenting, for your entertainment, edification and education:

THE GREAT FRIDAY AFTERNOON GAG GAME!!!

Please post your favourite blowing off gag here.

(It's Friday afternoon and I'm in one of my funny moods again; the worst part about being at work is that I can't lie down in a darkened room for an hour.)

I'll probably see lots of people I know, and not associate them with their online identities as usual! I have a few of you sussed now, but Stafford is too small for me not to know more!

There shall be about 10 of us, plus a kid so we can pretend its him we came for ;)

I'll be there and you'll all spot me as I'm going to be a marshal...Along with Jheych and my son, who's not on the forum,,,

Look forward to seeing you all

Out of interest, should I be expecting it to be quite muddy? As in, should I wear trainers or a pair of para boots?

I've dug out my hiking boots just in case...you have to walk up a muddy track to the site so best to be prepared. Yes I was a Scout.

I shall be sure to have my torch/whistle/compass keyring with me

what did everyone reckon to this year's show then? great performance, but marred quite a bit by gale-force winds blowing debris in our general direction, which was a shame.. after about 5 minutes, and getting ash in my eye for the third time, i had to stop looking up and just watch the ground-level fireworks lol..

best part was the fire brigade turning up.. we were hoping it was gon2seed! lol.. nice to have met scuttlingb, kharis and tek-monkey :keke:

A good time was had, head was regretting it this morning though! We moved near to the fire for a bit to avoid the debris, plus a few people were cold. Nice to meet you all :)

Why were they there? Was there a problem or did they just want to watch a really good fireworks display?

I was not on duty, but I assume it will have been Penkridge turning out! And very nice lads they are too, younger and better looking than Green Watch Stafford on the whole!

Rather unusually this years celebrations have been very busy. It surprises people when we tell them that Stafford is usually relatively quiet over Bonfire fortnight! Smoke on Stench is another matter entirely, which I found out when detached to Newcastle last week! Talk about Dante's inferno! It was an insight into the flames of hell, complete with p*ssed up, mouthy yobbo's, and other assorted ignoramuses. A lovely part of the County!

Yeah - Sorry about that. We planned for the fallout zone to be off to the left, but at 6:30PM the wind changed direction blowing the fallout directly towards the audience. Bloody weather! Frankly, I'd like to run a summer display one of these days. It also makes the setup much easier.

The fire brigade were called for the bonfire rather than the display. The farmer *had* arranged for them to be informed about it, but I guess they have to respond to every call no matter what. Good to see they are keeping us nice'n'safe.

As an aside the addition of a burger van this year was down to the comments on this forum. Just to show you that StaffordForum *does* make a difference. <grin>

Finally I'd like to thank everybody who braved the weather and turned up. As a result of all your kind contributions we collected £150 for the Penkridge youth football trust.

I hope you had a good time. Please feel free to post what the good bits / bad bits were. This sort of feedback allows us to make next years show even better......

Wasps - feel my wrath!
Top stuff , excellent display , huge effort guys ty

My comments?

the wind and debris which has already been mentioned.

Tunes unfortunately couldn't be heard due to v last minute technical hitch but certainly would have added to the overall effect . I'm feeling a bit of a calling to arms , hmm

Do take the point about wind speed/direction etc.. but I think perhaps a little more distance between spectators and the firing site ( if that's what its called?) . Reason I say this is displays are getting much bigger and better the shells are huge ! everything is great but I suspect a few creaked necks to watch the overall display and get the full sky picture? . Think if the spectators were further away it might be a better view of the overall display . Assuming that was possible and farmers were willing etc..?

Not crits at all , just ideas

Must say I was very weirded out by the arrival on the lane of the flashing blue lights which delayed the action a while but the boy was quickly despatched to go and find out what was what and everyone was in good spirits and smiley faces all round . Much enjoyed event congrats to HAT, AFB, and Sizzle for a top effort . Sizzle running through the sparks/flames at the end was great !.

I saw him at the bonfire later and I jokingly suggested for added effect he might fancy doing it nekkid next time ?

the look said it all !

Great night , like the idea of a summer event too , BYOB, burgers/bbq theme, OR seem to remember there was a sort of tropical Hawaiian theme at Railway . Might it be an idea to transfer venues with a bit of a fire and fireworks chucked in ?.

Fireworks would be late tho due to daylight hours that time of the year but it might work.

Folk might stay around a bit longer if the weather was warmer , meet someone you never met before ,share a beer, chat etc?

LOL..Perhaps Have a music jam?

or hoedown! <SP>?

ok lets not !

I/we would certainly be up for doing something summery if it were possible , don't know what everyone else's opinion is ?

These were the best fireworks I have ever seen, bar none. Not even marred by getting hit in the face by chunks of charred cardboard.

Woooo! Top display Hat! As per previous posts, the hail of bits dropping on our heads and in our eyes didn't take anything away from the quality of the show. Some amazing fireworks......I particularly liked the machine gun-esque spray which went back and forth whilst changing colour, the ones which spun around for a bit and then shot off in 4 different directions forming a cross, and the HUGE BOOMY ones towards the end. Fantastic.

Nice! I think CornishJon ate his own bodyweight in burgers, so all worthwhile!
