In response to mr seed here is a vote for forum flash mob,

if any one else has any ideas we can start another vote

I would like to vote against the tea party and also somewhat the five minute toga party as they require too much planning.

I would like to suggest:
1. Balloon games on the green in Victoria Park with the "NO BALL GAMES" sign.
2. Worshipping a random object. I can't think of anything suitable off the top of my head, but maybe there will be some kind of event or arts project with an opportunity. (The big Christmas tree in Market Square perhaps?)

Don't fancy any of the above but what about this

Watch it through.

We could all start appearing at different parts of the square doing this if someone could get this music and something decent to play it on. We would just walk off at the end and not say a word. I reckon it would be good fun for all and it's just four moves.

We seem to be slipping away again! If 100 people come up with 100 different ideas NOTHING will ever get done.

It needs to be simple, effective, and easy to organise!

May be this wasn't such a good idea, if it was we would have done it by now! or at least have it organised/finalised!

Well the suggestion that i made is just four moves that can be practiced by watching video. If everyone is stood in the square, just waits until an agreed time then someone walks into centre, starts music then everyonone comes in at their own time and dances until music is turned off then just walk away.. How difficult than that be. It's also something forum kids can join in with.

4000th post? Whatever, I'm nonchalant..
I'll take part and I'm not that fussed what I have to do, within reason that is.

Ahh - I'm gutted. You only needed to bring a Thermos! Nothing posh with doilies and scones.

I'm with you on the toga party though - not a chance! Great idea, don't have nerve to wander round town in a sheet. Specially if it rains.

Make a decision early Sept, choose a day/time/meeting point etc, we'll then know who is available and willing.

The papers are already aware of the forum, they may be reading the plans as we speak :ninja:

CCTV . . .not a chance with Data protection, but my Dad's got a video camera :)

I don't think this will get round it. Data Protection protects people's identities and information, so where you get the video from (CCTV or video cam) is not the issue. It's the content of the video.

If you can identify an individual from video footage then you need that persons express permission. This is all within reason though - as long as you are not filming a specific individual and then state their name or any identifying details associated with them on the video then you're ok.

So - if you could easily make out Mr Kidney in the film eating someone's hamster, then before distributing the footage I'd make sure I pixeled out his face.

Fleeting glimpses of people in crowd is ok, but if you want to freely distribute the footage then you need to ensure that some measures are taken to inform anyone in the vacinity that filming is underway.

At work we go to great lengths to ensure that our photography and video does not get us into any sticky situations. We also have dedicated staff to give info on Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts. Will pick their brains to see if there are any further considerations.

Anybody see the T-Mobile advert tonight? - Set in Liverpool Street Station.

More than likely a lot more planning than the average "Flash Mob" but was still pretty cool

There is a very usefull doc. that you can print out here,

http://www.sirimo.co.uk/media/UKPhotographersRights.pdf

and show to any officious individuals that try to stop you taking photos, however im not sure how this applies to movies ( is one still photo different from a long sequence of still photos that are viewed in sequence?)
