Its maybe not all bad news. We could knock down Alstom and connect up the two retail parks by a bridge over the railway line.

Think of this - a few more pound shops and loads of new jobs on 2 hours a week contracts. Luverly

Not to mention all the tiny little flimsy town houses that could be built on the vacated land.

One day, somebody will end up with a house on top of the Innocenti foundations - I doubt anybody will dig the concrete out - it will make gardening a bit difficult.

Take no notice on lazy made up reporting.

firstly alstom have just invested £15 million for 2 new state of the art sites at beacon park replacing st leonards.

the report itself is littered with glaring errors. For a start alstom only employs 6500 people in the UK not 22000, they only employ 17000 worldwide( unless they count GE employees ?)

I'm not one to defend "journalists", but the article states that GE employs 22,000 in the UK, not merely in it's recently acquired ex-Alstom sections.

600 to go from 7,500 doesn't really sound better than 600 from 22,000.

Papers do what papers do to make them sell then people spread the news like Chinese whispers creating all sorts of local gossip.

The story on Argos was just the same..."both branches could close.... " well yes, but we could also get hit by an asteroid overnight.....
