I think 'George' the very pleasant Indian fellow was the driver

I suppose the ever present passenger could have been a Greatrex Jnr

Indeed and the Polish driver had a short fuse, probably due to the diesel fumes......

May I be the first to say w00t! If he'd done this 2 months ago we may have had an actual government by now, unless Dark Lord Mandleson was still about anyway. Actually, now I think on it, was he the one to make Brown leave?

I can think of another major political party that may very well be having a leadership election soon.......

Can I first of all make clear that I was unaware of any "noteworthy" spoilt ballots, although I didn't see many as I was at the count as a guest rather than as a counting agent. I'm obviously delighted that Jeremy Lefroy won. I've worked closely with him on his campaign and like Kidney he's a fundamentally good person going into politics for the right reasons.

As for what happens now, well we just have to wait and see, but I can't see this Lib Dem window shopping doing the argument for proportional representation much good. For my part my preferred outcome would be a full Conservative/Lib Dem coalition formed with the intention of governing for several years. It would have a significant majority in the Commons and so would be the most stable option at a time when we need a strong government prepared to make some difficult decisions.

I am sure I am not the only one to have noticed the distinct lack of character and leadership, vision and integrity in any politician in any party in the Britain today

How can the UK possibly have a strong Government given this ?

The problem here is the LD promised that PR would be a deal breaker when it comes to a coalition, and the Cons just will not accept that. One of the parties needs to be made a liar from the outset, which will damage any future support for them.

Just spotted this on the beeb:

The Tories, who won the most seats and votes in the election, reacted to Mr Brown's decision by making a "final offer" to the Lib Dems of a referendum on changing the voting method to the Alternative Vote (AV) system.
How the fook did Cameron get his party to agree to that?!?!?!?! Link to article here

And now Cleggs lot won't let him accept! FFS, I assume there is a time limit on this crap? I keep imagining the discussions myself and dylanf had with a committee led project we worked on, everybody had their own agenda and that was more important than anyone elses. The project went belly up IIRC...

There is no time limit, as there are no rules at all. We have an 'unwritten constitution', i.e. no real constitution at all, and so you can make your own rules, despite all the 'constitutional experts' that will be coming out of the woodwork, or from under stones....
