Many years ago, there was a Radio 4 phone-in about endowment mortgages - a bloke rang in with query about whether or not he should follow his provider's advice to make increased payments. One of the advisors, reluctant to offer specific advice, said "The people who get you into a situation are rarely the best people to get you out of it".

Always worth remembering.
