    Howdy,

    Anyone else annoyed by this?

Almost daily, as I drive through town, there is an issue at the ASDA roundabout.

The issue is as you head into town from Weston Road, with ASDA on your left, after passing ESSO. It’s Drivers who get into the middle lane, after the traffic lights, marked TOWN CENTRE (to go to Primark) then proceed to merge over to the left and blast their horn at you believing they’re in the right in order to get to ASDA.

this happens daily to me. Anyone else?

It is your duty as a citizen to maintain position alongside them until they, hopefully, can't avoid staying in their chosen lane.

You Occasionally get this coming off the ring road, as @Gramaisc says, if I'm alongside them I'll match their pace until they either drop back (hopefully the vehicle behind is aware and 'on board' with what's going on) or head into town.

Its so bloody annoying. I don't understand why some people find that section of road so difficult to understand just look at the lane markings!

It's because they are either thick or just don't give a stuff about others. Bit like the mask wearing thing.

The only way to deal with such nobstains is zero tolerance.

There used to be an Express & Star van driver who had a 'special technique' of using the A34 lane further along, as you enter the Kwikfit/Attwood's roundabout, to bypass the traffic lights, then barging back in to go up the Wolverhampton Road.

I successfully forced him up Lichfield Road twice.

One day, there may be a plaque commemorating my victories.

The queue of traffic in the middle lane for town is shorter, so they get in that lane to get ahead and then try and cut in. I never drive that route but I'd never let them in either

i don’t think that’s always the case, quite often they’re the first in line when there’s nothing in the left lane. They’re just fecking ignorant twats.
I haven’t seen that van for a while but I’ve encountered him a couple of times. He’s tried it unsuccessfully on me but my van is bigger (& faster) than his & twice he’s had an unexpected detour up the Lichfield road.

Why are you all in such a rush? Will it kill you to have one more car in front of you?

Here's an easy thing to do to yourself - just imagine *that* car is from out of town. Maybe they are just trying to get to Jn13 from an M6 nightmare, maybe this is the first, and last, time they will ever find themselves in this hellhole. Maybe they are just trying to survive the ordeal of getting through this.

And if they aren't, and they're taking the piss? So f**king what? What did you lose? One car length? Boo f**king hoo.

It's easy to find yourself in the wrong lane.

Too true, Chell road is my favourite. The bonus being the pedestrian crossing near sainsburys. Such a great place to pick out an anonymous citizen and concoct an imaginary montage of them.

Oh now what have I said ?...

I almost always let people in, the only exception to my own rule is Chell Road from the Radio Rentals end. Bear with me before you all jump, Sometimes you can be doing the very English thing of being in a queue, you've been in that queue for a good 5 minutes or more. Then someone shoots up the outside to the front of it,and expects to be let into said queue, no chance Buster. Worst thing they ever did was make that two lanes into one. I've read on Farcebook, folk saying they'll shove their way in, they don't care if their car gets damaged.

    They still ain't getting in.

Yes, the one thing for sure is that they don't actually mean to go to the town centre.

    There is feck all there.

The real problem is that drivers get complacent often decades after they read the Highway Code and started driving.
What's needed is retention of a Driving License being conditional on repassing a driving test - including the 'theory' and a 'medical' - every ten years.

It's nothing to do with complacency, it's due to either drivers inadvertantly getting in the wrong lane or being arrogant and using the wrong lane to try to beat a queue.

Sadly in my experience it's more of the latter and this has nothing to do with retaining your driving skills.

Those 'artist impressions' are totally mis-labelled. They both show South Walls - the first one down the side of Primark, and the second the junction with Cope Street. Probably annotated by some Reach employee based in South Wales. They were correctly labelled on the Staffs CC flyer that they 'borrowed' the pictures from - https://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/Hi...d/Documents/South-Walls-A5-Flyer-internet.pdf !

Thing is, the signage says to use both lanes so they aren’t technically doing anything wrong. Most people don’t use both lanes even though they can (should?) and don’t like ‘queue jumpers’ so won’t let people in.

It should be made into two lanes all the way down or just one lane.

Chell Road will be remodelled soon enough when the WAR is open and hopefully it will be a case of all motor vehicles having to give way to pedestrians.

Even though the sign does say Use Both Lanes, it really should say Use Either Lane.

Using both lanes would involve driving down the middle, with half of your vehicle in each lane - although, this would preclude the merging problem...
