Crikey that was gacked up!

I guess you just don't know whats lurking inside the 'box' as it were, but under £20 to get that out seems like a bargain. Pretty intricate work I bet?

Believe it or not I regularly see them a LOT worse than that too.

The trickiest part really is the whole disassembly required in the first place. Several people have attempted it themselves before now and turned up at my door with a carrier bag of bits hoping I can put it back together. ;)

I've just serviced a forum user's laptop on this offer, and I shalln't identify them but have taken some images to detail what you get for your money and the professionalism with which the task is undertaken.

First of all the machine is dismantled (obviously)

This next picture shows the fluff buildup within the vent from the fan (where the warm air should be expelled) - I will point out that in this case the laptop hasn't been serviced in 2 years, but I also know that it's owner takes very good day to day care of his tech. items

The old, dried up thermal paste (which no longer does it's job of transferring heat between the processor and heatsink) is then cleaned thoroughly and fresh new thermal paste applied before the entire machine is reassembled...

Thinking of taking you up on this offer, at the same time would it be possible to carry out some other repairs/ upgrades?

1. install new power socket
2.fix dodgy speakers (keep cutting out but tap with finger sorts it out) thinking loose wire
3. Source a new battery
4. Install ssd drive 128gb should be enough don't download much
In 2 minds whether to fix up or buy a new one. It's a dell inspron 5110r

Ball park figure @cj1 you'd be looking at £130. That is for...

1. New power board
2. Replace speakers with new (common fault with speakers themselves)
3. New battery
4. 128GB SSD with install
5. Service as above

Turnaround on this would probably be 3 or 4 working days from drop off / collection
