getting to the train station on Saturday

Hey everyone. I'm off to london for the day on Saturday on the train and wanted some advice on getting there and parking. I was thinking of driving and parking in the station car park. Is it still £2 something to park all day on the weekend? And if I'm aiming to get to the station for 8am for an 8:16 train how long should I leave for travelling? I was thinking half an hour as I live near queens retail park. I usually avoid going into stafford town centre on a Saturday because of the traffic and in the past I've missed a train due to not leaving enough time for travelling on a Saturday. Anyone who regularly goes in on Saturdays who can give advice will receive my thanks!

Yes still £2. Traffic is pretty light at 8 on a sat. So if you're at car park for 8 should be plenty time, maybe give few mins more if buying a ticket.

Pretty much bang on acurate answer from HC.

My advice though, aim to park for 7:45 and then grab a bacon butty / coffee in the cafe.... better to be there very early than a second too late...

cheers guys. yeah I always aim to be mega early. much rather be sitting around relaxing than running like a headless chicken for the train as it's leaving. we're aiming for the 8:16 train and I'm meeting a couple of other people at the station. if we miss the 8:16 there is another at 8:36 we can get which our tickets cover. I'm all for the backup plans! - esp if other (less organised) people are involved!

If you have a Stafford Enjoy Card I think you can possibly get 50p off of parking too. And a BITE card.. gets you 20% off if you ever grab food in a trainstation (main ones only I think, does include Stafford (Pumpkin?), it's only on food though, no drinks unless with a meal I pressume, Burger King wouldn't let us get just a drink using the discount.

I've used my BiTE card to get discount at the Pumpkin cafe at Stafford station on just drinks before

Your experience at Burger King wasn't at Marylebone station was it?
I've just spotted this on the BITE card website

"Please note that Burger King in Marylebone station is not part of the BiTE discount scheme so the BiTE Card will not be accepted in this outlet."

Nope. It was at Birmingham New Street. They said you can't get the discount unless you buy a meal (I pressume a meal with a drink for it)
