I only went to malabar once, they food was excellent, really good but the service was extremely poor. It may have been a night when they were short staffed but we havent been back as a result.

Not in Stafford but ate at The Oak in Eccy last night. Lovely warm dining area.
Starter of mussels in wine & garlic sauce was one of the best I've had, GF had pate and although coarse (she prefers smooth) it went down very well.
16oz steaks were cooked beautifully (two 8ozs each as it goes) saute potatoes were a welcome change from chips.
value at £50.00 including a bottle of decent red.

I was told last week that that is the intention - have no idea whether bookings are being taken though.

Earl's Restaurant? Ideal, especially if the weather's bad..

I tried the Yorkshireman just outside Rugeley for their fixed price Sunday lunch. It was very good. Especially the gravy.

Oh I also went to the Moathouse for their fixed price lunch. This was also very good indeed.

Not Stafford but went to Dolce Vita in Stone for my birthday last Tuesday. Were told valentines menu only but a party of six on an adjacent table were able to order from the a la carte menu. We mentioned that we thought this a little 'off' and were told this was because they had booked their table "ages ago" the chef was prepared to make an exception for them. Owner agreed this was a litle unfair and gave us a carafe of wine, not a bad result as both the food and service were really good. Would defo return.

The Wolsely arms is pretty good - the Fish Friday is a good deal - £14 for 2 courses and a glass of wine - the normal fish and chips but also grilled bass, seared Tuna or whatever is in season - always very good value. but would say you'd need to book

Just had a really good Sunday dinner at The Lion Hotel, Brewood, food really was superb, 10/10 for everything. Been looking for a decent pub that does a good roast for a while and will definitely be coming back!
