Harrows, Coven

Called in at the Harrows pub on the A449 at Coven this evening. Good food, 5 real ales ranging from Ilkley Mary Jane (3.5%) to Abbeydale Dinosaur Sedative (4.8%) and 13 ciders and perries including Black Rat, Black Dragon & the local (Ivetsey Bank) Hursts View. Most beers were £2.90 a pint. It is the pub on the right at the second set of traffic lights past Gailey, formerly the Plough & Harrows. Adam formerly at the Whiston Swan looks to be in charge. Well worth a visit. Beer & cider range may change.

I ate there once, about four years ago - not bad, I thought.

I vaguely recall it being closed for a while recently, but I could be mistaken.

It's been closed a couple of times but has now been thoroughly refurbished and seems to be quite busy. Future son-in-law was rather happy after 3 pints of cider.!

Funny enough I failed to post about having a chat with the cider maker from Ivetsey Bank at the Stone food and drink festival. he has been going a couple of years and has built up production to a level that still keeps him as a small producer and supplies a couple of pubs with the Harrows as one of them. Nice drink, dry, flatish and fairly strong.
