Has anyone used Ikon Bodyz Car Body Repair on Astonfields?

After some little charmer damaged my car without leaving details, the best quote to fix it is from Ikon Bodyz. When I say best quote, it is the best by a long way, so much so I'm suspicious enough to ask if anyone else has used them? They seemed genuine enough and looked very busy.

Many thanks,

CB

Don't know them. The only place in Stafford I would trust my car bodywork to would be Body Matters. They do an excellent job and can also write in English, something that Ikon Bodyz clearly can not.

As above - would only trust Body Matters!

As for Ikon I wouldn't say it was a respectable company built on skill and reputation - more a place for boy racers to get their cars chaved...

Would also avoid Body Panache after experiencing poor customer service and being ripped off!

I agree, Body Matters are brilliant and they do not rip you off. As as single lady I found them so geniune and helpful. Tell them Nuttynana recommended them!!

Whilst I can't vouch for Ikon Bodyz as I've never used them, I think it's unfair to say things like "steer clear" or "cant even spell" if you've never used them. They're busy - that surely tells a story in itself? Yes, I believe that they are more of a mods kind of place for boy racers, but that doesn't mean they don't know their stuff with bodywork in general. If people give them negative feedback based on actual experiences then that's acceptable enough, but otherwise please all think before making public assumptions. This forum is read by thousands and could affect their business when (as far as I can see at the moment) they've done nothing wrong. As for the spelling - they have a general target for business and the name is deliberately mis-spelt in order to appeal TO that customer base. Nuttin' wrong wid dat bro! ;)

The title asks a question. "Has anyone used...?". I personally would like to hear feedback from someone that actually has. Especially if their pricing is so keen because I may consider them in future if the feedback was appropriate. I'm reasonably cheap as a computer technician compared to some - but it doesn't mean I don't give 100% to the service I give.

Whilst I can't personally vouch for either, I have heard a few myself say that Body Matters are very good. As the OP says though, there's a considerable saving possible so it's understandable to try and get some real feedback before shelling out hard earned cash.

Thanks everyone. I will get a quote from Bodymatters this week. Unless anyone responds who's actually used Ikon Bodyz I may opt for a more expensive one as I really love my car!

When my company car was rear ended it went to body matters. It came back a week later looking newer and shinier than when Ford delivered it. I doubt even the keenest of eyes would have spotted the car's history.

Body Matters: £462 inc
Summerhouse garage: £440 inc
Ikon Bodyz: £240 (not VAT registered... I assume the bodywork part of the business is a separate entity to the 'garage' part else surely the turnover just to cover the rent on their unit and staff wages would surely put them over the VAT threshold?)

Ikon Bodyz looks like a gamble compared to two similar quotes from recommended companies.

Interesting, isn't it, that in this case being the cheapest is detrimental?!

Seen things like this before; my parents recently* had a new roof put on their house and obtained six quotes. Five were there or thereabouts and one was almost half of the others. Suffice to say a bit more research into the cheap one resulted in them not getting the work for one reason or another.

* I say recently, it was early 2012 - oh how time flies! I remember it like it was yesterday.

The 2 highest quotes are £385 and £367 excluding vat...... So the differential is less than first appears.

Have you seen the quality of the work from Ikon?

Why not ask for the contact details of 3 or 4 of their recent customers who have had similar work done and go from there?

The vat on the material costs will be charged regardless. It's only the labour bit you save on using someone who's not vat registered. Most of the cost probably is the man hours. But even taking that into account they seem to be allowing a lot less time than the others to do the repair. At least a day's work for someone I would guess.

But it could be they're charging for how long it should take and the others are adding on extra.

Ask to see their work if you can't find anyone who has used them.

I found what I think is a car park dent in my drivers door at the weekend. No one has owned up to it.
It is only a small dent ( but quite noticeable so want it put right) but it is quite deep, something has hit it with a good whack .Luckily the paint work is still intact.
Went to Summerhouse garage and they quoted me £75 all in but contract it out to dent devils.
Went to Body Matters and the nice chap gave me a number for a mobile guy called Jim and he has a mobile company called "Jim'll fix it".
He said if he couldn't do it then to go back to them.
Both garages very helpful. Has anybody heard of "Jim" or used him in the past?

I've had to use Jim a few times over the years. He's an absolutely to bloke who does a very good job.
