Any ideas when the park will be reopened?
Soon I guess, the holding website for Albert's cafe say October...
That's good news as it's likely it won't be a Costa coffee!!
There is nothing wrong with Costa. It may be a chain brand but a lot are franchises which are owned by people local to the area.
I would rather a Costa than what some parks end up having - basically just a water boiler and a fridge.
I used know/work with the bloke that ran the old cafe in the park - Keith, lovely man, but he used to buy the cheapest of the cheap. Tea, coffee, iced lollies etc. The iced lollies he would pass off as Walls, woman at work confronted him one day about ti, his answer was, if you're daft enough to get your stuff off me, then that's your fault, not mine.
Never said there was anything wrong with Costa. What we don't need in Stafford is replication, and with there being 5 of them in the area as it is, we don't need another imo.
People in general, despite what some may say, like replication. How else would chains survive? But yes, different can be good.
Hear hear. I’ve tried numerous local takeaways and prefer the lesser known chains for instance. Caprino’s is good, Big Bite is bloody awful, for example.
They are looking for an assistant manager - https://www.facebook.com/114165196993289/posts/177651830644625/
The award winning Victoria Park in Stafford will reopen its gates to the public next Wednesday (28th) following a £2.5 million National Heritage Lottery funded restoration project
Some amazing pictures showing the beauty of the new layout and designs on here
The gates are open, the fences are gone, it's looking great. Some little bits of history information around the place to stop and take in. I can imagine it will look even better in the summer.
It looks fantastic. I visited today with my two children. We all loved it.
Planning on having a mosey round on Tuesday, weather permitting.
Me and the boy swung by today to have a look, it feels much more open and smart and the new cafe is lovely. Excellent hot chocolates.
I'm guessing the cafe will have to close on Thursday, unless they can safely do takeaway only...
They had takeaway capacity so I guess that's the plan.
This is what people think about things you know about -
- "This is not a castle and can barely even be classed as remains... where the castle once stud (sic) there is a wall which is probably 15 - 20 meters long but that is all that is here! There’s lots of open space to have picnics and such but I would not recommend visiting here purely for the ‘castle’"... 1star, disappointing -
- so i don't know why anybody would take anybody else's word for anything any more.
All the upgrades of Victoria Park in the last few years have been an huge success, and this one looks to be one more and some more.
From above it looks f**king fabulous - congrats all round.
