Help! Lost Pictures

Help!

The other half moved some pictures from his phone to the laptop and they seem to have been lost in the ether!

The pictures were on a memory card on the phone - it was plugged in via a USB cable to the laptop - he clicked 'Move' - it made all the right noises and the flashy green progress bar came up.

But then POOF - gone!

I'm really upset as it had pictures of our anniversary holiday in Scotland on - we don't have any other copies!

Any help much appreciated!

@That-Crazy-Rat-Lady - If there's a chance they're not on your computer at all, then IMMEDIATELY stop using the memory card in the phone. Whether they've been deleted or the card formatted I can likely recover them for you, but not if the data gets overwirtten so remove the card from the phone to prevent any background tasks from overwriting the storage.

Secondly, as others have said - check the computer everywhere they might have been put. Do a file search based on date and you might find where they went (plenty of guides online).

Thirdly, if all else fails, drop memory card to me when you are down in the land of your people and I'll do my very best for you.

Take the advice of the inestimable @wmrcomputers for sure.

But -
take another pic, transfer it, but first see where the transfer is to, I've
had mine transferred to places i would never have expected
- this is solid advice.

I have an on/off relationship with this thing upon which i am typing these characters, one that i have almost a weird 'affair' type vibe, which is a machine which decided it would, by default, 'save' a document to system32.

It'll no doubt be somewhere, panic ye not.

Hi!

I'm really sorry in the Christmas faff I missed this post!

The files themselves moved - the folders with the album names - but there were no pictures in them.

So I don't think it's a matter of them moving elsewhere - the folders moved but just not the data??

Hard to say, but sounds like a bad copy took place for one reason or another. The important thing is to stop using the memory card ASAP if you haven't already, as it could increase your chances of someone such as myself recovering them for you.
Here if you need me @That-Crazy-Rat-Lady
