Possibly can't compete with quality food at The Bell.
Just to add balance, we went to The Bell on Saturday and found the food to be a bit disappointing. Lovely wine at a reasonable price though, so not all bad.
Gave The Bell another shot on Wednesday as it was their monthly steak night, couldn't fault it. A quick drink in the bar, two 16oz steaks with all the bits and a bottle of decent red for under £40.00. Immediately booked in for next month's.

Word reaches me that the new curry house at the Holly Bush, Seighford, is 'very good' The Spice Bazaar was well marked by a discerning diner ( not i )

Also out in the Sticks it appears the Hand and Cleaver has/is going through a bit of makeover and I have also had several excellent reports on both beer and food

Between the two lies the defunct Yew Tree Restaurant which closed in the Winter - word on the lanes is that this too is going to be another curry house - the application apparently receiving no objections from locals

Maybe renaming it Hoo Flung Dung would give it some instant attraction with the farming and horsey neighbours......

"We are pleased that we have been able to announce the exit from our price-sensitive drinks-led pubs and our late-night venues in a single transaction," said Adam Fowle, M&B's chief executive.

I'll bet!

I see the longest refit in history is maintaining its reputation at the bottom of Mill Street

writes a man that took a fortnight to change a lightbulb...

And what happened to the 'new bar' next to St Chad's Church - it now has a to let sign on it...

I seem to recall making such an observation in the 'Mill Street' thread re the re-fit and the time it seems to be taking to reach fruition........
