Does anyone have any knowledge of Stafford Tennis Club ? It was part of Stafford Cricket Club and the original courts were actually on the Hough ground from about 1900. However, they appear not to always have been there ! We're trying to find out exactly where the club was situated (it may have been exactly where the new Travelodge is now) There is a picture on our website - http://www.riverway-events.co.uk/history (pic 149 of 171) showing a group photo ! Does anyone know any of the people in the picture !
On a similar theme, we have recently discovered all the club's minute books dating back to 1888. The club played at "The Lammacotes" before moving to The Hough in 1899. We think the field that was leased from a Mr Crewe and a Mr Turkington at the time was basically where Hatherton Street is now. Does anyone have any information or possibly photographs on The Lammascotes during this period ? (or The Hough for that matter).
Any comments or info would be appreciated

In firefox you right click on the picture and select "copy image location". In Internet Exploder you right click on the image, select properties and the address is in there - copy that address.

Once you have done that you would input it onto the forum like this:

I'm sure the two gentlemen in sports jackets are Mr Cholmondley-Walker (left) and his chum Grayson.

Must be. Possibly on a celebrity visit.

The chap in the waistcoat to the left of centre in the middle row would make an excellent Mellors in a production of Lady Chatterly's Lover.

I ♥ cryptic crosswords
The gentleman stood on the left of the first image taught me mathematics in the sixties, 25 years ago

Reminds me of the cross-eyed teacher, who couldn't control his pupils.......

I can't help with your Tennis question unfortunately but I just wanted to say that seeing the mens hockey photo posted above and recognising one or two people, I had a look through the rest of the photos on that site and have found several old ones of my husband and many other folks I know. I'm not sure they'll thank me for finding them but the discovery made my afternoon :D
