Hoax warning by email

Hi Guys,

Below is an email that has been circulating round my work the last couple days and has alrmed quite a few people. I have heard of similar stories before as well. This particular email has a contact at the bottom and after confirming the guys identity (i looked up the number for essex police and then called them to confirm he is one of their officers) got in touch and he stated that this has not come from the police and that they have not had nor heard of any similar cases.

After a quick web search it would seem this is a well known scam internationally and although the drug mentioned is real it doesnt get used in the way described.

It seems someone gets sick pleasure out of circulating this rubbish and worring people which is exactly what it has done and why i am posting this, so no one else is worried needlessly by it. So if you hear this story then please dont worry, it is all a hoax. Go and google it.

"Received the following from Essex police via our road representative with the request that it is distributed as widely as possible:

Subject: Police warning message

Share with your sisters, daughters, nieces, mothers, and female friends. This Incident has been confirmed.

A man came over and offered his services as a painter to a female putting petrol in her car and left his card. She said no ,but accepted his card out of kindness and got in the car. The man then got into a car driven by another gentleman. As the lady left the service station, she saw the men following her out of the station at the same time. Almost immediately, she started to feel dizzy and could not catch her breath. She tried to open the window and realized that the odour was on her hand; the same hand which accepted the card from the gentleman at the service station.

She then noticed the men were immediately behind her and she felt she needed to do something at that moment. She drove into the first driveway and began to honk her horn repeatedly to ask for help. The men drove away but the lady still felt pretty bad for several minutes after she could finally catch her breath. Apparently, there was a substance on the card that could have seriously injured her.
This drug is called 'BURUNDANGA' and it is used by people who wish to incapacitate a victim in order to steal from or take advantage of them.
This drug is four times more dangerous than the date rape drug and is transferable on simple cards.
So take heed and make sure you don't accept cards at any given time alone or from someone on the streets. This applies to those making house calls and slipping you a card when they offer their services .
PLEASE SEND THIS E-MAIL ALERT TO EVERY FEMALE YOU KNOW

I'm fed up of telling people that these are hoaxes... when someone starts telling me I just smile and listen and then change the subject.....

I normally do the same gk141054 but this one seems to be doing the round and has quite a few people worried so thought would post it to hopefully stave it off from being forwarded more.

Forum O. G.
This substance is produced from solonaceae, a plant family which includes tomato and chili pepper. Some Forumites have recently admitted cultivating these, presumably for similar disreputable purposes.

Do not accept a tomato from a stranger, howver innocent it may seem.
