Just spotted this one advertised online:

Chef required to work 10-20 hours per week, evenings and weekends at a Fresh food based country pub in the Village of Seighford near Stafford. Must be passionate about food, experience is preferred however this is not essential as full training can be given. Own transport is essential due to location with no bus route. Duties to include preparation of fresh food, cooking and cleaning of kitchen area.
The ideal candidate will have a good general education, ability to work flexible hours, enthusiasm and a wiliness to learn and will be working as part of a team.
Seems a bit odd that no contact details are included, although maybe thats the first test to weed out those without an ounce of common sense.

Sadly I have crossed this pub off a short list of places to eat out

Original manager chef appears to have departed and it has become very much less than ordinary

If this is the case it is such a shame after all the effort and expence the village folk put into keeping the place alive. But the responsibility lies with them also.....

Not sure how or why the original 'Titanic' chef/manager departed, but he set a pretty high standard for pub food.

I cannot say the same for the latest 'Titanic' incumbent however, others have offered a similar opinion and will take the ale but not the food, and of course taste is a very personal thang

Sad

It is both true and sad. The pub should be good. It could be great. Instead it is really, really disappointing. Under the first manager after the reopening there was a decent menu, good service and a real sense that the pub was going somewhere. Now it feels moribund.

It isn't THAT long since The Hollybush was packed, nightly. I used to walk there from Shakey Bridges on a Friday night, lured by the best chocolate fudge cake I had ever tasted. It isn't so difficult to succeed, even these days - we failed to get a table at The Bell in Haughton tonight and The Fox, as always, was full.
