Home births in Stafford

Hi does Anyone know if Stafford hospital do home births or has anyone had a home birth and like to share their experience? :-D

After my wife had our first child at the hospital we were told that she is a prime candidate for home birth. So i can only assume that they do home births. However we haven't gotten around to taking them up on that offer yet.

The midwife you see at the doctors is the community midwife - she's the one that does the home births. I know they don't encourage you to have them but if this isn't your first child and there are no complications then you can request that you have a home birth.

I doubt its much odds over giving birth at Stafford hospital. You push the baby out then the midwife buggers off only to be seen again if they need the bed for someone else. So you may actually get better care at home as at least the midwife is with you for the duration and not just popping in every now and again.

You can, of course, insist - but for your first you will have to have your 'persuading' hat on.

From what i remember if you have no complications you can have a home birth, you may have to insist but they can't refuse unless it's on the grounds that they don't have the resourses ie the staff. Good luck.

I had a home birth, but it was a long time ago and I don't remember much about it..
