Especially for you Jimbob. Mate of mine who works at Old Trafford went to see the test screening in Manchester last night and had a Q and A session with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost afterwards.

In his exact words, "This film is farking mint, just like watching spaced the first time I only got about 20% of the references to other films. Go and get it watched when it's out, easily as good as Shaun of the Dead only with slightly famous actors."

A bit more info from last night:

"It struck me that they could probably do stand up to a decent level, the onscreen chemistry between Pegg and Frost works in real life too. Some smart arse asked if they were goign to get married and they went in an improptue argument about being afraid of comitment."

And then some Hot Fuzz facts that they let on about:

- Although not in the credits there are cameos for Kate Blanchet and Sydney Poitier

- The Team are doing one of the ads for Tarantinos/Rodriguez's GrindHouse

- There are a couple of running jokes that come from shaun of the dead

- If you use the phrase intertextuality to Simon Pegg he will take the piss out of you for being a student

i just read a review online, 5 *s by all accounts, but heres a random quote from it;
"...I dont think you will see another film where an old lady gets dropped kicked in the face..."

sounds worth the admission price alone!

Went Sunday with Upsetter, Anders and Jimbob, and with all this information prior to viewing we still failed to spot the cameos. There was a lot goin' on, and its a fast paced film.

Cate Blanchett was Nicholas Angel's girlfriend, she was just in one scene right at the beginning wearing one of those protective suit things.

Excellent film. Will stand up will to repeated viewings as well. Plenty of references were missed first time round and, most importantly, it's very funny.

So that's two excellent films from Pegg/Wright, no wonder Hollywood are desperate to snap them up. Props to the pair of them for giving Working Title first dibbs on Fuzz as well, since they were the only company who backed SOTD. Could have quite easily taken the big cheque and gone overseas.

And they're two of the nicest guys I've ever met. Have I bored everyone to tears with the story of me and Panders meeting Wright and Pegg yet?

Out to buy on DVD from Monday. No doubt Asda will be selling it at a ridiculously low price.

Ample rewatch opportunity awaits.

finally got round to watching this last night.. i actually didn't have particularly high hopes, as i had heard a lot of people saying it was a bit too long and few other niggles.. well frankly, those people are idiots - this was absolutely bonza!

i love all the cheesy "bad boys 2" references, and almost everything that comes out of danny butterman's mouth lol

"yeah, royyyyyyyyyyy" :haw:
