First two images are to the side of the Barret home right of the Silkmore Coop and the last image is the field across the road from the Silkmore Coop.

I've just been for my daily lap of St Leonards site and the field that runs between site and the railway track is under a fair bit of water but the path is still just passable. I did notice the path near the front of the site where it drops towards the meadows had water encroaching onto it this morning. I think this respite may save us from armageddon but the next forecasted downpour is going to tip it over the edge in quite a few places. we are now at a point of long term damage in a number of areas as, when vegetation is covered by water for 3 weeks or more, it starts to decay. I'm certainly not looking forward to the smell when that happens! I work with the river on one side and meadows on the other and also live near the river.

Not too bad as I live on the 'high' side of Tixall Road, those on the 'low' side backing on to the fields lake must be a little worried

A few posts under my belt
Nearly in the garden but not worried,
In 20yrs living here, it's flooded twice
So not too bad ay

I grew up just a bit further up Silkmore Lane, back in the mid 00's it used to flood like that quite frequently. I remember walking home from school (Rising Brook) one day (probably 2006ish) and finding the entire road flooded about 2 (or 3) feet deep, I tried to wade through it to get home but the friends I was with at the time made a more sensible decision and walked back through town. Cars chanced it and got stuck, children swam in it...

I only have one picture left from back then, at the top of the picture is the co-op and to the right is the housing estate (that was brand new at the time, I think?). I never really understood why they built that housing estate there, the old caravan park used to flood constantly... hopefully the height they built it at has prevented the flooding.

The repugnant smell of that brook is still burned into my nostrils from childhood, I can't imagine it's pleasant to be around there right now.

River Sow and River Penk
The current level at the Milford river gauge is 1.96 metres, the current level at the Penkridge river gauge is 1.81 metres and the current level at the Great Bridgford river gauge is 0.76 metres. River levels are steady at the Milford river gauge but slowly rising at Penkridge and Great Bridgford river gauges. Flooding may be possible tonight. Over the past 6 hours there has been 9 millimetres of rain. Rainfall is forecast over the next 6 hours with totals of around 1 millimetres expected.

Have they cleaned out the brook that runs down from the Balancing lakes and behind part of the lower section of Sandon Road? I was over there last night to purchase some fine pork products from John Anslow and it seemed quite low for the amount of moisture we have recently received.

I've seen it a lot worse. Over the years the peaks have appeared in different places. The marshes are still one of the natural plains and as such should be a place to soak the excess, similarly with Radford Bank area
