Ice Bucket Challenge

Well I hate to be a party pooper with everyone donating to charity but I had been sat thinking about the ice bucket challenge doing the rounds. I know they use ice cold water to cool bodies to slow heart rate and breathing and it's always said that no one who has been submersed in cold water is confirmed dead until their body temperature is back to normal....so I thought I would investigate further. Indeed there is a "diving reflex" which can kick in when ice cold water hits the head which results in slowing the heart rate and in extreme cases can cause cardiac arrest.
People with heart problems should avoid doing this ridiculous challenge. You could end up dead.

I've still got to get around to doing this myself yet, but I admit I'll be likely to cheat slightly.... hot tub at the ready! ;)

I was challenged to do this IBC.......instead, made a small donation, went to the ice bucket, selected a few cubes, placed them in a glass with a healthy drop of Woodford Reserve....and enjoyed.

Much in the same way as Sir Patrick Stewart

I dont see the point of pouring ice over your bonce....the horse in the .GIF above is case and point...what a stupid person to do that, and sorry to say, she got what she deserved.

The thing is though the videos people have made from Ice bucket challenges have been shown all around the world and raised awareness. If people just quietly donated and didn't make a video for people to see, charities would get less publicity and less donations.

Good point JC. I was actually considering a quiet donation myself, but since you pointed out what should have been obvious to me I will now ensure I complete the challenge!

My car seat suffered a big wet patch when son did one....wore his shorts, changed back into his jeans to drive home but kept his soaking wet pants on!

I did this for the feeling these people get , my family member suffered from this and passed away in june . Its a brilliant thing to do, if you have an illness or heart problem ... obviously do not do it !
p.s i also donated.
