If all jobs paid the same....

Flicking through the Sunday supplements and also beautiful homes magazines it struck me that someone actually gets paid for looking round the shops and finding nice things for the photographer to put in the magazine.

What a lovely job thinks me.

Now if all jobs paid the same and therefore it was not the money that enticed, then what would be your ideal job....?

I did actually have a lovely job myself as I worked for an airline for over 20 years but you know how it is....grass greener etc.

If all jobs paid the same then perhaps I could be the underwear buyer for a dept store or the buyer for John Lewis Knicks and knacks dept or the MD of a huge company.

And you?

I'd be a bed tester for Slumberland or any other bed manufacturer that needed their product testing. Oh gawd how I love my bed!

There are actually real jobs out there where they pay you to sleep and then they test your dreams etc.

I read an article about it. But you are shut in a room so you don't know whether it's day or night, no clock, and they test your body rhythms etc. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the research centre....but you do get paid!

I like the job I do now, but if I wasn't cleaning backsides or gettin belted by old folk who don't know why they're thumping me, i'd either - be a bed tester for Slumberland or David Essexs personal dresser!

That's one sizeable squirrel.

If you knew what i do, you'd more than likely know who i am. This would not be what i'd want.

Having said that, find out who i am by meeting me and i'll more than likely buy you a beer. :)

P.S. i am also not a mild mannered janitor.

Having made my hobby my job in a couple of different ways over the years I can say that as soon as it's your job, there's an element of fun taken out of it. I'm happy enough where I am thanks, although I wouldn't mind that equal pay idea.

I ♥ cryptic crosswords
Time Out magazine staff were all on the same pay for a good number of years - whatever their position

I have applied for the position of husband to a lovely lesbian lady in Hong Kong

I like my job, but not really the pay. I'd probably like to do similar, just with another person able to help out when there is too much on.

EDIT: Computer programmer by the way, web based database thingies.

EDIT 2: or work with reptiles.

I used to be a manager at a Wacky Warehouse (not the Stafford one) and I loved that job, always said I'd love to do it again, and the money was a bit pants but I was only 20 ish at the time.

Now on the odd time I venture into the Stafford one, it feels like I'm in hell - doesn't help that it's permenantly a grubby mess - (wouldn't have happened on my watch) but the noise now would do my head in.

Dream job now - lottery winner, I think I'd use the money to set up a charity/ do something to put the money to good use! Also buy the dream house/car/holidays ect.

I don't think they'd want to reduce it as much as they want to devalue it and tax it. I'm sure they'd settle for reducing it to zero though. Lighthouse keeping must have been the easiest job in the world. A mandatory 3 man job so you don't go mad and kill each other. Every evening one person had to remember to turn the light on. Every morning someone else would have to remember to switch it off. I guess the third person had 2 days off before their next shift.

Im trying very hard to work towards my dream job, but its REALLY hard to get into, I'm hoping my efforts will pay off eventually!

Or maybe I could be a professional tea drinker? I drink a lot of tea!

I met a lady once who was responsible for decorating the interior of show homes, so she just shopped a lot and picked out wallpaper and then didn’t have to do the decorating!

I once worked with a guy who spent large sums (1000's) in a lap dancing venue. His transactions used to be marked as 'interior decorating' on his credit card statements.
Now I'm always suspicious if someone mentions interior design.
