IFTTT (IF This Then That)

Anyone used it? It allows you set up triggers to do things, assuming you have a trigger it knows and a thing it can do stuff with anyway! As an example, here is one that automatically downloads any photo you are tagged in to dropbox:

Obviously you have to give it a lot of permissions to track your facebook, but every trigger gets enabled separately so you can choose to only give it access to what you want. I just set one up to put the weather into my calendar at 7:45 each morning, no idea why just wanted to try it! Also another to send me a text if it is going to rain tomorrow.

Heard about ITTT a while back, in fact about the time I got my Jawbone Up24 which apparently can also work with it. Had a quick look but couldn't think of a really useful use for it. If you think of one then please do post back :)

I've been using it on and off for a few years. It's gained a lot of services but I agree I've never really found something very useful for it to do.
I have used it to control the thermostat at home based on my phones GPS but the Nest does a better job automagically without IFTTT.

Morning folks,

I've finally found a use for IFTTT.... a Frost warning / reminder to bring my plants in.

So basically I use the weather chanel to say "If the overnight low in Stafford is going to be <3 degrees, then push a reminder to my phone"

Seems to be working great so far :)
