I always feel like I'm being nosy when I see ambulances/Police about, it looks like someones been hit by a car when crossing road

Didn't quite see though, got this off travel news

Westhead Avenue Stafford, both ways at Bedford Avenue
Staffordshire - Westhead Avenue in Stafford closed near the Bedford Avenue junction, because of an accident.

Anyone know anything more?

Hope He/She will be fine though!

"The pedestrian, an 82-year-old man from Stafford, suffered head injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire by air ambulance. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening and he remains in stable condition."

In other words the man was injured in the middle of the day in a place almost opposite a hospital and yet was air ambulanced to another hospital 15 ish miles away. What a ridiculous level of extra stress and trauma for a man in his 80's. I do hope he is OK.

I would imagine he was taken there because that's the nearest place that specialises in head traumas.

From there, I would imagine in the Stafford Hospital grounds might have been the only place to land - ironically.

When I walked past on the way home, they were driving the chap away in a road ambulance? They'd stopped the traffic on the Weston Road in both directions to let it turn around towards the hospital. Hope he's ok

I am a close relation of the man involved in the accident. Sadly he died last night in hospital after suffering severe complications from the accident.

That is very sad. I am so sorry. My condolences to Mr Banks' family

My condolences too.

I could be incorrect, but I have a feeling this could have been the regular occurance of an impatient driver approaching a stationery car that is waiting to turn right into St. Thomas Street - so many cars then continue up the Weston Road by dodging around the stationary vehicle swinging over the lines slightly onto Westhead Avenue. I've seen it so many times where people have almost been hit crossing the road there, or cars (including my own) waiting to come out of Westhead Avenue nearly have the front of their car smacked.
IF this is what happened, then I sincerely hope that this poor mans death leads to road safety swiftly being improved there as it's a bad junction with an accident like this just waiting to happen.

if they placed some double yellow lines around that junction then a right turn lane to st Thomas street could be created. the road is wide enough
