The mind is a great thing, My computer repairs come from my younger days, the second to last year of high school i took over the class, the year after they sent me collage one day a week to get a break, at that stage of the age of 15 i had took over the school network to prove a point, the age of 16 i understood rm logic to take over traffic lights in stoke - on - trent, under supervision not that i thought lets screw the system, The age of 17 the sentinel gave a sample of how i could take control of a radio wave to answer phone calls on the analogue system bear in mind, All these samples were not breaking the law at the time as supervision was granted, but yet you see all these things happen with the mind set, Computer use to me is natural, nothing more nothing less, but I thought I would inspire other geeks or non geeks on here, in my terms a computer is as a good as its user, if you know where the on button is you know it turns on, if not then you don't that simple, how ever on to other words for inspirational thoughts,

There Arnold tells us what make you different, well the same can be applied in computers, here is something, Steve Jobs, that guy was an inspiration to us all, he was classed as quirky, why he said computers would be as popular as a kitchen tool, he was strong headed cause he knew what we wanted, lets face it an ipod holds its money etc, he was stubborn but yet look at where it got him. I get a lot of question of how to fix this, that, the other, My first response to do you know about computers was, do you know about breathing, I am not going to lie, but call me quirky etc, but I am pretty sure with time becomes knowledge. this is what this world need's, How many of you can honestly say you attempt to fix your own laptop, netbook, desktop, itx tower, nettop, tower, imace, macbook, macbook pro - sorry did i go on a bit there, that is making computers more universal than - aspire a100 aspire 110 aspire 110 aw, etc you get the drift, Well you have blah blahed for a bit, well that video shows its down to your mind nothing else, if you apply it to computers you will learn, that simple my idea of fixing anything from now on is i teach you how to fix it at the same time, means i will fix it for you but show you as i do, why well its about time we all knew how too.

I built all 3 of the desktops in our home, and also my mother's, and yes I fix them myself. I don't understand why folks find the thought scary, but will happily assemble flat pack furniture, it's the same thing. Most of the time 'computer problems' aren't even hardware, they're just that they installed far too many background tasks and ran out of memory for their main tasks, or they downloaded too much porn and ended up with a shed load of malware. Or they used the installation disk from their ISP.....

I quit coding a while back when I started dreaming in php.

The thing is though, I don't find folks like Steve Jobs et al inspiring. Why? Because I'm a nature geek. lol Show me a guy who saved massive areas of rainforest, along with the anurans etc inhabiting them, and I'm inspired. Show me a guy who as a kid built computers in his parent's garage and build a multi billion pound business out of it, well good for him, but sorry not inspiring. The story of your youth just makes me think you were overpriviliged, and as such lucky to have the opportunity to learn those things, whilst others of us counted ourselves lucky to be able to learn Sinclair basic on a Spectrum +.

As to Apple, apart from the ipod which I love the rest is overpriced tosh. I can achieve the same far more cheaply building my own PC and slapping a Linux distro on it. iPhone? Android phones do it better. They're not even the most stylish any more. In fact, most of the folks I know of who would seem to be the definition of the casual user, well they're out there with anything BUT Apple computers. They're using things like Acers, Packard Bells, HP/Compaq, Toshiba etc etc. The folks with the Apples tend to either have more money than sense, or are the arty farty types who are still living in the late 80s in their minds.

Wolfenrook it is good to see another computer repair person on here, By no means was I over priviliged, I too learnt if you want a word processor on an amiga 64 you need to write one, or to go further on a Sinclair then you needed to apply time, ok Steve Jobs did nothing for you but yet you love the ipod, Yes apple products are overpaid, but its due to a guy knowing what he was dealing with hence unix been copyright protected, I wrote this in the hope that more people will get involved in trying to fix there computer problems, perhaps my wording was not the best choice but the mindset was, Apple been over priced maybe so, the user having either too much money or living in the 80's think again, I dont own an iphone but have done in the past I would not go back again, I use android, I use a macbook pro as a laptop why its a metal body for the first thing secondly if i add a ssd then means if i chuck it about harder than i do then nothing but the screen goes, plus its unix based not machine code, hence linux, rearrange unix missing a letter l, this is as close as you can get to unix look it up, Jobs knew a thing or too, However as to the green side of things you only have to look at the icore processors they are more energy aware but there is not going to be many people that look after computers that rebuild rainforests, but look at the charity work gates, and jobs have done,

My main goal is too get more people involved in computer repair in there own home, why well a saying comes to mind you give a person a fish they can eat one meal, teach that person to fish they can eat for life, same principle, if people want to turn to people in the know then let the forum point you in the right direction - Gdavies = Mac + Windows + Linux + BSD, WMR = Windows + GPU resetting etc you get the idea forum members will give you the info you need, I would just like people to feel more comfortable with what they have instead of at the slightest problem thinking of whom to call.
