I always thought the google ones were apps too? I've just checked and I can use the calendar and of course the contacts without data. Or do you mean that they only synch between devices over the web, instead of using a cable?

Calendars and Contacts on iMac sync over the cloud with the same apps on iOS.

Ah, got ya. You mean its the Mac bit you need, not what the apps on the mobile devices do. I don't own a Mac, so never occurred to me.

Yeah everything is seamless for me. If I make a change on iMac it appears on iPhone and iPad and vice-versa. I may be able to do this using Android but I've been using Macs since 1993 and iPhones for 4 years and I don't feel inclined to change.

iOS, Android or Windows Phone - they all do the same things just differently. It's what works best for you.
