What i think is impressive about forumites is there is always someone who remembers another related thread.
It's not difficult to remember one's own crass stupidity.

If a registration number is reported to the police and it comes back to the correct or likely to be correct vehicle. It's unlikely in the first instance there would be an appeal as they have enough information to find the person without external assistance.

I would also agree that you are more than likely asked to go to the marshalled rank to get a taxi at 2am as opposed to trying to book one.

Really? You'd have to be pretty stupid to be turning away income in this climate. Our policy, due to the legal problems associated with taking booking from a rank (you legally can't as hackneys there have to work on a first come first served basis and private hires are prohibited from picking up at/near ranks), and people never actually being there when you get there, is to ask people to walk round to either Paul's Newsagent (end of Friars Road/Terrace) or the Sun Bus Stop.

If you had to deal with 5 or six people a day thinking that and Westsiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide is funny, you'd lose the will to live too.

ugh.

I wasn't saying it's fake or that anyone here would fake it, I'm just saying before we blindly assume it is real some sort of external "proof" would be nice.
I would never post rumours;only what I know to be true and a first hand account and even then only for the benefit of others, not by way of entertainment. my post was also an appeal for help.

There are always stories about dogs in chinese food, rats in KFC, paedos, john Venables, etc etc. I'm not the slightest interested in 'a friend of a friend' tales as they are often incorrect, started with malice, or speculation which can cause nothing but trouble and loss. no matter the medium I will not participate in speading gossip and rumour.

It's a matter of remembering, or guessing, words that might have been used and then using the excellent 'Search' function above.

It's not always easy…
Apologies in advance for the perhaps inappropriate digression - i'm sure that somebody recently asked about Olympic commemorative 50p pieces but can't find out who, despite the 'excellent' search function above. Answers on a post(card) please?

As regards this story - nothing in the Newsletter but i have no doubts about lisseylee's bona fides.

It's very disturbing isn't it? You would've thought that a 'marshalled' taxi rank would be, well, marshalled.

The driver didnt ask for payment but said 'must have been your lucky night'
That was the bit that got me - horrid.

I'm curious, is there any law against making a deal with a club? Let's say Casa for example (they have the taxi rank thing, right?) could they not strike a deal where they are paid for referrals, when a patron wishes to get a taxi instead of using the rank they tell an employee at Casa, employee contacts taxi company, taxi arrives for the patron and the taxi company would then pay Casa. Works to everyone's favour, unless Casa already get paid for having a taxi rank nearby?

Toble,

That was my assumption but that is worth knowing. I didn't realise not all taxis could wait at the rank.

Lis, any update on what happened?

I'm seeing my friend later - nothing other than the police came and took statements earlier in the week and were reviewing the CCTV, you might know Paul - how can she get some support as she's been having nightmares and is very scared at the moment - lost all her confidence. I thought she's have had a letter from Vicitm support but not sure if they do that any more.

She should have got one when she made a statement. I'm sure there's info on the internet regarding victim support if you search.

The phone number for staffordshire victim support is - 0300 303 1977
Thanks for the info.
you're welcome. the police pass your info on when you do a statement. victim support usually contact you within a couple of days but you can ring them first as well.

This worries me, due to the place I live having no buses I take a lot of taxis and although I usually do private hire, I often take a taxi from the rank on a night out. Since they employed the marshalls ive felt a lot safer about getting taxis from there but I'm shocked that someone could slip through the net like this!
