I'm in need of a 1/4"-20 bolt, and I'm afraid an M6 just isn't cutting it.
Is there anywhere local that keeps imperial sizes in?
That could be UNC or Whitworth - I would try Marcus in the shop on the corner of Weston Road / St Thomas Street - or the place on Gaol Road where the Handyman was, opposite ex-Phoenix Music, allegedly sells bearings, etc, but probably have a wider range of stuff.I'm in need of a 1/4"-20 bolt, and I'm afraid an M6 just isn't cutting it.

Depending on what you want, the most common usage for 1/4 BSW these days is the tripod mounting screw on the base of cameras. If it is only a temporary use, then you can usually remove the screw from a tripod, but it won't be very long.
1/4 UNC is the same pitch, but a slightly different thread angle - being coarse threads they both tend to be so loosely made that interchangeability is commonly available, although they aren't actually the same thread.
An excellent place who have saved our bacon on a number of occasions. Highly recommended.Central fixings in hixon, their somewhere on airfield industrial estate all they specialise in is bolts etc
It is not unknown for some places supplying threaded bar to have UNC, although it's less likely these days. I think I got some from B&Q around 2000, but it could have been Burgess's..It's actually for a camera mount I want it, but I'm not sure I want to dismantle my tripod just yet. Maybe if that wobbly leg gets any worse...

Quite compact and robust.
I will survive without it for a while - it is just in the car for emergencies that haven't really seemed to happen...That's a very kind offer. I'm sure I could make use of it, but I don't want to dampen your own photography efforts!
