No problem, just thought I would do a bit of marketing, in case you went AWOL for a day or two.

Invoice in the post.

Hi everyone
just a quick message to keep you up to date with our move.
Please ignore the previous message about our new address! I'm afraid we were a bit previous announcing it - we were keen to keep people up to date as we were very conscious of the fact that clients who we were selling for may have got a bit nervous about us having their items if we didn't announce where we were moving to.
Our new permanent address however is going to be -

16 Browning street,
Stafford - Its the big white building next to Browning street surgery. the office is just inside the car park by the side of the building - our A board will be outside so we will be easy to find.

We will be open here from 5th January as planned and clients can bring items in to us to sell and collect money for sold items as they could at the shop. We are really excited about the move as we sell far more clothing online and without having the shop to look after can really build up our online presence again. We already have 8 pages worth of bargains in our ebay shop for sale and will continue to sell during the christmas period.

We are contactable by email while we are closed over christmas - jade_enquiries@hotmail.co.uk

I wasn't sure whether to mention this but forumites will already know I can be a tad outspoken at times! It has come to our attention in the last week or so that someone is spreading a rumour around that we are not in fact moving but are closing and doing a runner! We do know who this person is and will take appropriate action with the authorities if this continues. We have been perfectly open with the clients we sell for - sending each one of them - and that is over 600 people! A letter to inform them of the move and to give them the option to have their clothing back if wanted. I'm pleased to say a good 70% of them are standing by us and supporting our venture. Rant over :)

As a personal curiosity Jade-clothing, do you use any specific software to manage your inventory and client base or is it all pen and paper and remembering a lot of information? Curious about how you approach the problem of managing so much.

I shall miss you in town I loved coming in for a browse I even purchased a few items, real bargains so I was really happy - good luck with the move and the online venture again. I'll be having a look to see what i can fit into. I hope it does really well - as for people gossiping try to take no notice unless that cause you damage or harm to your business and if they do or say anything get it documented, evidence is the key to moving anything unpleasant like that forward to the relevant authorities

Hi - we have excel spread sheets - each client is assigned a client number and every item they bring in is assigned an item number. Every item of clothing is tagged as soon as it comes in with both the clients number and the item number and the client is issued with a receipt with their items on them which is also entered onto our inventory data base on the excel spread sheet. Every client has an inventory on the spread sheet, with columns for date items are brought in, date items are sold and how much we sold them for and every client has a client payment file for every month we hold their clothing. We keep the tickets from the sold items, then every morning before the shop opens we enter the data onto the inventory of sold items for each day and at the same time transfer the details to the clients payment sheet. It's actually a really simple system, the greatest amount of stock we ever held was just over 9000 items and it was easy to keep track of them as the spread sheet is also searchable by means of filters at the top of every column. hope that helps :)

Thank you Dylis, we will miss all our regulars too, but we are looking forward to expanding our on line business and have big things planned for the not too distant future!
