Kids in pubs

The Yorkshireman in Rudgley is the only dog friendly pub we have found in the area.

We have recently discovered the Hollybush in Seighford as a dog friendly pub and the meals are well priced too. Sunday lunch 3 courses for £15.

WhatPub (http://whatpub.com/) indicates pubs that are dog friendly but doesn't seem allow you to search for dog friendly pubs (or for any other specific facilities) from the front search page. If you search for Stafford, or any other town or village, you then get a list of pubs in the area and the ability to refine your search by facilities such as dog friendly or family friendly. Pubs change fairly frequently nowdays though, so it might not always be accurate.

Now oddly, I object to dogs in pubs, but only if there is food involved. I'm not against dogs, quite the opposite, but I just dislike the idea of eating whilst a dog, no matter how lovely, is nearby. Maybe its because as a kid we always made sure that the dogs were outside before we ate.
Nothing to do at all with the slightly off-putting feeling you get while trying to eating something while a canine is staring intenting at your every move and salivating.

Yeah, I'm odd.

Some sort of local database seems to be required... if I have time...

Yeah, I'm odd.

The pub at seighford had a "dogs not past this point" sign so they were not permitted in the main dining area.
There was a small section where people with dogs could sit and eat which is fair enough as, as you say, not everyone wants dogs near them.

We found another pub today called The Plough near Whittington and that was the same.

The Anchor at High Offley has a sign on the door saying that dogs are welcome but that children should stay in the beer garden.

I like The Anchor very much.

On no account set out there before ringing to check they are open.

With The Hollybush at Seighford it is just a matter of waiting until the next manager. There is bound to be a new one along next week. One of them will be dog friendly. An early one even offered impromptu dog training while you ate your soup. After that manager it has been a bit of a blur. A downhill fast, bobsleigh-style blur.
