Knot & Plough

Just come back from lunch here. It is entirely as expected for that kind of place. Reasonable food, reasonable service. It is surprisingly expensive though. Over £10 for a basic burger.

You can get a bloody good burger for a tenner in town, and the horse do basic burgers for nearer a fiver. Do they offer anything making the journey worthwhile?

I went there for the first time this time yesterday. It was OK; nothing to write home about. Possibly a bit pricey, though the service was good considering it was quite busy. Would probably carry on past it to the Hollybush next time.

A pub for all the family!

The first thing you see when you approach is a children's climbing frame, how nice.

I've not been in but a couple of friends have. "Factory canteen" was how it's been described to me.

I'll give it a miss.

I wouldn't describe it at all like this. The food was excellent went, and they were sensitive toward catering for my vegetarian needs. They were a bit on the pricier end so wouldn't go often.

my only real complaint was the carvery was lacking in options for my tastes, I mentioned it to the manager and he explained it was because they only use seasonal british veg, but that they'd take my comments on board and see what else they could offer from local sources.

Called in Sat night. Too loud and open snd canteen ish . I hate being told where to sit when I only want a drink. It was so busy she told me to sit outside when i asked where the bar area was... odd. Didn't like it., much prefer the Horse.

Went again today, again the carvery (or at least the vegetarian option carvery) was pretty amazing. The person I was with had a burger that was a bit dry.

From looking at online reviews in addition to my own experiences, I think it seems a bit hit or miss, and lacking in consistency.

I've been here once and had a burger. The food was perfectly edible and the décor was nice, however I wouldn't rush back. In order to visit this pub I would have to drive past (in my opinion) a number of better pubs.

If I want a decent burger; Market Vaults, Star and Garter. Beer; Sun Inn etc. If I was after a decent family pub I would always opt for the Kings Horse. The Kings Horse has got a larger outdoor play space and an excellent indoor play area and the beer / food (in my opinion) is of similar quality to this pub.

I was expecting / hoping that this pub would be like the one in Uttoxeter. The one is Uttoxeter has a pizza kitchen. If it had a pizza kitchen it would have distinguished this pub from the norm and provided more reason for me to go.

From the outside it looks like the usual run-of-the-mill-on-the-outskirts-of-town identikit pub which are being built at the moment.

It's food first, drinks second. Really it should be called a low-cost fast food outlet and not a pub.

That was my initial thought as well. We might get a pizza kitchen, something different but no we get yet another carvery!

A burger at this pub costs about £10. This is a similar price to Market Vaults which is superior quality and only marginally cheaper than the Bear.

At Patishe you can get 2 courses for about £12.

A burger at The Hollybush (just down the road) is on the lunch menu at £6.95.

They'll be having their pizza oven firing soon aswell, their ale/music festival is on soon also.

The problem with this pub is that there is no compelling reason to go there. It doesn't offer anything better or different to the other establishments.
