This was the state of some of the paths on the RAF trail near the visitor centre.

Forgive my ignorance, been out of Stafford for some decades now, but where that ATS place is in the pix, didn't there used to be a club around there, I think to do with Lotus, where back in the day I did my John Travolta disco dancing ..... :heyhey:

(First one that laughs gets .50 calibre time .... ):P

If that wasn't there, you would be able to see the Cottage by the Brook behind it.

In 'your time' that area was almost waste land, but owned by Lotus and used for odd storage purposes.

There was a public lavatory there - if that's your idea of a club...

Could have sworn Lotus Club was somewhere around there, but, the old neurons aren't firing like they used to. :|

It's possible that it was, although I 'seem to remember it' being up by Henry Street, where the bowling green was.

Thanks Giles. My position fix was a bit out, must have been all that disco dancing addling my brain. What I do remember is walking down across the allotments along the 'Little Bank' to get to it from the Rec. All of that is built on now.

(Orders more .50 calibre ammo from Ebay.)

I remember the Lotus Shoes site down there. Friends lived down Sandon Road so we'd walk past it on the way into town.

The drains that fill the lower balancing lake seem to have an automated pressure relief system.

I wonder if anybody has considered using the balancing lakes to contain the water in the lake and release it at a rate that the clogged ditch can cope with?

There seemed to be plenty of reserve capacity available in either lake to contain many times the current volume of Lake Sandon.

Upper dam.

Lower dam. The hydrocarbon smell at that location was rather strong.

All six of these pictures were taken within fifteen minutes at around 11:20 to 11:35 today.
Whilst it was heavy rain, it lasted only a few hours. I thought our invisible MP was all over this, she literally got elected on this mandate. But then chose to vote to put shit in our waterways, starve our children and renew fracking.

Still she got a nice photo opp out of it. Pointless.

If you get paid to do a job and don't do it isn't that fraud or something?

It's certainly grounds for: "Here's yer cards, there's the door, re-arrange this well know phrase or saying: OFF F***."

TBH, it's actually the job of the council, councillors and environment agency to deal with stuff like that surely? your MP can lean on them a bit to get things done or try to secure funding of course.

It was within the Lotus shoes site that was around there. Where the new houses are.
I went to the Lotus club ,as I knew some people working there. Seem to vaguely remember going in through an entrance from Oxford gardens way (or that could have been a short cut for us as we walked from the Prince of Wales over the Rec way? )

Yes, had a nice photo opportunity at Lake Sandon, married a Harrowby from Sandon Hall but still won't do anything about it.

Apparantly she's been working really hard, FML, yet a morning of rain and we're back in floodland. She's utterly pointless

Well that's the point, she had a meeting with the people who are supposed to do the work and they didn't do the work. Lets face it, people in local government are often Labour supporters so are well known to just ignore what a Tory MP tells them to do.

Good. No one should do what this shower of shite ask! But I'm not sure it actually works like that!
