Laptop recommendations...

So my laptop was DOA, even the inestimable @wmrcomputers was unable to resuscitate it, so I am bereft.

Any thoughts on with what to replace it?

Budget - ideally not much more than £250
Use - usual; email, web-based shennanigans, much watching of streamed things, probably best stick with Windows 10, all of those sorts of things
Need - asap, so somewhere where I could just go and purchase preferable, within 'a few working' not a calamity.

Advice most welcome.

I was given a Toshiba Tecra M10 - http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-of-Toshiba-Tecra-M10-1D7-Notebook.21101.0.html - old, solid and not very trendy, but it works well on Windows 10. They turn up regularly on eBay for not very much - £70-£80ish.

Does everything I want to do.

Amazon try to flog me one every now and then for £2,500....

I have been looking for a laptop, to save firing up the desk top just for web browsing. I am not keen on touch screen tablets and want a keyboard, mouse and decent size screen. I am probably going to pick up a Chromebook, as they have a relatively small memory suppliers can't pre install them with bloatware.

When you say 'faster', one assumes you are referring to the processor being 2.4 GHz rather than 1.8 GHz?

Is that £30 worth of better? How does either compare with the one i've just killed?

Would there be a marked benefit of upping the price point to, say, £300 or thereabouts?

Am I asking too many questions?

Should I perhaps go feck myself with all of these questions?

Can i jump in, i'm looking for a fancy laptop but not at fancy prices and one of the very main reasons for a new purchase is my old one having the TN screen (colours vary hugely at different angles) and me wanting an IPS screen (colours stay as they are whatever angle), any advice?
