Given this hotel brand (and many others) work to standard room sizes for their sites I'm curious to see what they do with the place

I've never been in the upstairs part, but it looks pretty roomy if it follows the whole building round.

From the plans that I have seen they are making very little changes to the external appearance of the building.

A number of studies have recently been commissioned by SCC; SBC and the IBis which have all confirmed a need for 1 new hotel in Stafford town centre in the short term.

The applicants have projected an avg.80% occupancy rate. This equates to 49000 guests. They've projected a £20 per head spend by each guest in Stafford. This equates to £1mn.

Plus new jobs. A win win for everyone.

Now now Tilly we can't be having an Ibis Budget in Stafford (then again it's not too late for them to change their mind!). Question is, what will the rooms be themed to?

When I said in my previous post, that I wouldn't expect the final hotel to look like it's pictures, it was the metaer 'tower' I was on about, wasn't on the original 'imaginations' I had seen, yet now seemed to be a major feature! We shall see! ;)

I'd be surprised if it did.

I've stayed in a variety of office type buildings turned into hotels - usually configuration works fine, especially on a budget hotel scale.

Everybody's talkin' but no one says a word.

I guess most of us have not 'spent time' at Her Majesties Pleasure, but even at leisure it's been far from pleasurable.

Everyone is now either putting their head up or getting their head down.

    And who can blame them?

    Most peculiar Momma.

Ibis is a budget hotel so a different market to the swan. According to the studies that I've read there is a real problem trying to get a hotel room in Stafford and, therefore, people are having to book hotels further away.

Have stayed in a few Ibis Style hotels, they're essentially the premium Ibis brand with some really interesting and fun designs, although still competitively priced. If they get it right, could make the Swan owners nervous but i'm sure they'll continue to do well given location. The Liverpool Dale St Ibis Styles probably my fave that i've stayed in:

Best check it’s not listed - the relevant council might try and sell it - should be useful addition for tourists looking to see the combined sights of Stafford. Think the planning department missed a trick could have turned the shopping centre into a housing estate - more council tax payments

I sought it here, I sought it there
The Sheridan Centre, was somewhere there.
Is it heaven, is it in hell ?
Or might it become, a new hotel.
