Local History - Street Names

My Dad's just visited and he's always had a keen local history interest wherever he's lived. He was quizzing me about Oxford Gardens and if I knew it's history and I realised I just don't know anything about the area.

Anyone know any good books, websites on the subject - nothing to deep but a general local history guide or something.

I'm sure others must have questions about the local area, perhaps the answers lie on this forum?

I've spent hours on... Staffspastrack... loads of really interesting photos and history... not sure that it's particularly what you're after though.

In fact as I got home last night I found a thank you pressie from my folks for putting them up - a copy of the 1901 OS map for Stafford.

It has on it the proposed route for 'Oxford Street' that didn't go any further the Freeman street.
