I often feel like I should be watching Lost. One of my favourite writers, Brian K. Vaughan, has apparently been one of the main writers on Lost from season three onwards. With regard to his comics work, these days I pretty much consider anything written by Vaughan to be an essential purchase, regardless of what it is.

So how can I not be watching Lost?! I have the first season set on DVD, but have had it for quite some time, and haven't yet got around to watching it. I'll get there eventually...

And I'll just take this opportunity to recommend Vaughan's superb Y: The Last Man, which I reckon is probably as good as any film or TV programme you'll ever see!

i love lost.. it's a bit of a nightmare, because you have to remember absolutely everything that's ever happened all at once, in the vain hope that there is a pay-off sooner or later, but that's half the fun lol.. reading geeky forums on the subject certainly helps, i've found..

i had no idea! y: the last man is the only comic i have read since i was about 15, and it is brilliant.. they're making it into a film, but i'm sure you already know that..

Totally agree. I watch it with my gf and her memory is rubbish when it comes to Tv programes, so im constantly having to pause it while she asks me whats going on. I just hope they manage to finish the story off properly, would spoil what so far has been a good program if they dont.

I like Lost too, and since the episode came on this week, I searched through my friends to try and find one of them that wanted to watch it with me - but many of them had "given up" a few serieses ago...

If there are lost fans here - terrific! I loved the first two episodes - but felt they were too short!

I hope they finish the serieses off with some feature-length one - that'd be brilliant...

this season of lost is on par with the first, imo.. it's really starting to get its shit together, and i love the way they pull in little references from much earlier events (like when rousseau has a stand off with her mental hubby, and he attempts to shoot her only to find his firing pin missing, which she told sayid about back in season 1!)..

did you spot hurley reading Y in the airport in the most recent episode? :D

So far i've watched episodes 1 to 3, and have downloaded 4 - 6 but not had chance to watch them yet.

Gripping stuff and totally addictive. I can honestly say that this is possibly the best TV ever IMO.

My mate was totally gripped too, but he's never interestd in watching one episode at a time. He'll ask me for them when the whole season is over and then he'll more than likely do a 24 hour session in front of the telly - all in one go. That's what he did with season 3 and 4

I'm like that, I get really frustrated having to wait a week until the next episode, season breaks are even worse lol

Its all about a back to back to back to back marathon!

Week-week is fine, its the fookin stupid 5 week breaks the yanks have that irritate me :(
Am i right in thinking that there was a good few week break mid-season on one of them aswell?? (either that or i might be confused because i know one season had much less episodes than others)

that's what tek means - american shows like Lost tend to have "mid-season" breaks, so you'll get 10 episodes into a season then have to wait 6 weeks 'til it starts up again.. Prison Break, for example, is on a break atm, as is Fringe.. although i don't think PB is coming back at all, on account of the fact that it's "done a Heroes" and completely lost the plot..

fortunately, this season of Lost is scheduled to air without a break, and even if it does they have said it will only be for a week.. bear in mind that that is the US schedule, but so far sky have been pretty good at getting things on our screens asap..

jesus holy christ, this season is getting better and better!

the only way i manage to make sense of Lost at all is by keeping up with plenty of internet forums on the subject.. the conversation between miles and hurley last night about time travel was perfect - it was exactly like every internet argument on Lost i have read in the last few weeks lol..

Yes it was a good way of them explaining things. I was already aware of most of what was said as id picked it up from earlier episodes (and its normal scifi timetravel rules). The point about Ben was interesting though, makes me wonder how much he's going to remember after whatevers happening to the child version of him at the end of the episode.

er, i'm not sure if you do understand the mechanics of lost time travel, judging from that last sentence!

in 1977, sawyer is a wee lad running around america somewhere, minding his own business.. unbeknownst to him, at exactly the same time, his 30-something year old self is working for the dharma initiative on some magical island somewhere.. this has always been the case, he/we just didn't know about it until just now..

ben won't suddenly "remember [new stuff] after whatever's happening to the child version of him" - that stuff has always happened, and in all likelyhood ben knew all about the 815 crash before it happened, he just didn't let on because he's a sly bastard.. remember the crash from the perspective of the others, from the opener of season 3? ben didn't seem at all surprised by it, and he had a massive complex plan formulated from the minute he saw the plane in the sky, telling ethan and that other guy to go to both crash sites (which he happened to know the exact location of) and pretend to be survivors..

the main mantra to understand lost time travel is: "whatever happened, happened".. they are not creating "new" history - that can't happen.. everything we are seeing right now in 1977 always happened in 1977 - it's just the we didn't know about it cos we weren't there..

the only exception to this, of course, is desmond - who daniel has said time and time again is "special" and has the ability to affect time and potentially re-write history.. this is how he managed to prevent charlie from dying over and over, until eventually charlie ignored his warnings and sacrificed himself so that he could save the other losties by turning the signal jammer (or whatever it was) off in that underwater station..

if i have misunderstood your post, and you already know all this, apologies for being patronising lol..

I agree with what your saying, all i meant was somehow Ben's got to be magically healed by the island/Richard. I was wondering if it somehow is going to make the child version of him forget some events leading up to that point or if he was just being a sly bastard the whole time like you say. (which thinking about it now is most probably the case)

oh my god, i feel like i'm saying this every week but lost just keeps getting better and better!! i must have popped a bonar about 10 times during sunday's episode :xd: lol

locke is back to being a bad-ass, ben hasn't got a clue what's going on, and major characters keep dying when you least expect it!

i'm still waiting for someone (probably hurley) to ask the obvious question, though: "if we stop The Incident, and none of this ever happens, how will we be here in the first place to stop The Incident?".. time travel in lost has so far worked really well, because of the whole "what has happened, happened" mantra meaning causality cannot be affected.. but now daniel, the main proponent of time travel theory, is flying in the face of all that.. and it doesn't even include "special desmond"!
