Max-Min Thermometer.

I've been set a task to obtain a proper max-min thermometer - the old alcohol/mercury type.

So far, I've tried Wilko's and B&Q, without success. If anybody knows where I might get one, then I will be very grateful.

I would really like to obtain it in the prehistoric manner, so that I can be sure it's OK. They can have a tendency for the mercury to shift in transit causing endless problems of accuracy mismatches between the two sides...

Which way was it facing? He might be able to see that, at least until the leaves come back on the trees...

I believe it was on the side where the door was, so will be facing pretty much south.
