Meadowcroft allotments

Today I was lucky enough to be able to go to the Open Day at Meadowcroft allotments.

For those of you who were not aware these allotments have laid abandoned for 30 years and become a dumping ground for fly tipping. But 2 years ago this changed when Stafford BC and SARH came together and gifted the allotments to the local residents and through the residents hardwork and help from the BC and SARH the allotments are now looking brilliant and are providing good healthy food not only for the residents, but also for local charities.... the generous residents even give food away to people who happen to walk by.

However what most impressed me is the work that is taking place there by a local charity ADS (who are based in Stafford) they have taken over 2 plots. ADS work with people who have misused substances and provide help to give these people the skills to thrive aswell as now providing them with skills to grow their own food and eat healthily.

For me this scheme epitomises what can be achieved by communities when people work together. Big thumbs up to all those involved.
