Don't want to induce panic or appear anti-military, but the plans for this could change the face of sleepy old 'ford forever!
Don't know how reliable my sources are but they reckon the old RAF Stafford is going to be part of the Midlands Super Garrison. The other sites being Tern Hill Shropshire, and RAF Cosford.
This would involve 15,000+ troops who are currently stationed in Germany, returning to dear old blighty over the next 10 years. Over 5,000 of these could be destined for 'ford! Those with families will bring them with them, and plans for new married quarters are rapidly being made reality.
The fact that Signals and the Gurkhas are to be based in Stafford has already been stated but I didn't realise that there would be these kind of numbers.
Stafford could become a much livlier place on a weekend! And if you have spent time in an "army town" you'll know what I mean by lively!
