Have there ever been discussions about a proper link road to the Beaconside/Weston area of Stafford to help with traffic...

Apologies to Tants for the apparent swerve ^ above.

Short answer, yes.

Long answer, bung 'EDR' in the search function of this forum and get the popcorn in...

Small development at Walton, 8 houses

Falmouth Avenue, up to 97 houses, awaiting Village green application ruling

Cornwall Drive, 35 Houses

See my map of developments around Baswich, Weeping Cross at http://www.zeemaps.com/pub?group=936758'

The Planning application for the Falmouth Ave site is now in. SBC ref 14/20448/OUT so looks like they are not waiting for the Village Green application ruling!

I wonder how much council tax it costs to get Turley involved? Probably a lot judging by their website and the way they spout utter tripe, eg,

"We create places of quality that deliver development value through the intelligent and expert application of the UK planning system. "

Can anyone translate this into English, please? Perhaps:

"We specialise in manipulating the planning system to extract maximum profit from local authorities which have an urgent wish to build houses without any thought for the plebs who already live there, the already overloaded infrastructure, or the environmental impact."

yup yet another huge development in Stafford, we are busy fighting the ash flats appeal for 320 houses too.

There doesn't seem to be anywhere in Stafford that extra housing would not make the traffic situation worse.

But the Radford bank way into Stafford seems to be one of the worst and most difficult to avoid?

The exhibition will be held at Walton High School, The Rise, Walton on the Hill, Stafford, ST17 0LJ where you can drop in at any time between 4pm and 7.30pm on Monday 9th June 2014.

Hope everyone will attend the exhibition at Walton High School between 4.00pm and 7.30pm today. We need to protest about this development for 225 homes.
Apparently Hallam did not consult our Parish Council and have been invited to attend the next PC meeting.......

Unfortunately I can't attend but I would be very interested to see who actually owns the land so if anyone is feeling generous I would be grateful if someone could ask the question !

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
I went.

The entrance to the site will approximately be where the bus stop is opposite the Vauxhall garage. It may or may not be controlled by traffic lights - the guy I spoke to couldn't confirm what the arrangements would be.

I was told by one of the representatives that this development would not have a "servere impact" on the traffic to this area or it's surroundings.

By my reckoning, 225 houses will most likely produce at least 225 extra cars (most likely nearer 400). According to a Transport Specialist at the exhibition, during the peak times of 8am and 9am the development will only generate 0.5 car movements per house. This figure was generated by computer modelling using data from over the UK. How so few traffic movements would be generated I really don't know.

I imagine most of the houses will be 3-5 bedroom houses which in itself means families of four or more people. Like other estates round Stafford, most parents will drive and quite often have a car each, older children will drive and possibly have cars so there could be homes with 3 or 4 cars. How will those homes only generate 0.5 car movements during peak hours?

I get the feeling that this development will be approved but I was told that the application hadn't been submitted yet.

Probably the nearest comparable estate is Saxonfields. It would be interesting to know for that estate how many vehicles there are on average, per house, and what their movements are. Also, this estate on its own may not have a huge impact on traffic, as some will inevitably head towards Rugeley & Cannock. But, add this to the potential new houses on Saxonfields, Falmouth Avenue and the Police HQ and I can't believe that won't have an impact on the area.

But when did common sense come into play?

Whether it's 200 or 500 cars, this development will have a small effect on traffic compared with the gridlock generation schemes at the other side of the town.

I live on porlock avenue Stockton lane end and anyone who says all these developments will not generate any further traffic issues is properly deluded. Anyone living in this area has to compete for a space on the local roads day in day out.....

Folk coming into the town via this route have my sympathy as do the people living in the Beaconside area as they are going to be in the same situation shortly.

Cheers to the planners. Great bunch of people....... not.........

The reps. of Hallam Land Management have confirmed they will attend our next Parish Council meeting at Walton Village Hall on TUESDAY JULY 1st. We need to invite as many people as possible to come along .

The exhibition yesterday was very badly organised. It was not possible to speak to many of the 'sales reps' from Hallam and the ones we spoke to could not answer our questions.
They were trying to sell the 'green landscaping' and new planting on the proposed development, but we would prefer to keep our existing green space!
When questioned about the impact on local schools, a downgraded hospital and Weeping Cross surgery, we were told the council will assess the impact and deal with those problems! I won't hold my breath.
