Morrisons coming to Stafford?

Really?

I don't care what it's going to be, but with only 117 days until Christmas that Car Park needs to be open or the good Retailers of Stafford can say hello to another crappy Christmas like last year, when it was ruined by road works until the last minute.

Are there still things left on the world unavailable on Amazon?

...and people moan about the town going downhill

I am proud to say I have never bought a thing off Amazon and, knowing some people who have worked there and heard their stories, I never will. I used to buy a lot off ebay when it was a proper auction site of people trying to get rid of their stuff. I have bought nothing off ebay for the last three years - since it became full of traders and dodgy imports.

I like to see the people I give my money to. I'll happily use the internet to research and look but I am the absolute reverse of many people: I would never go and look in a shop and then go on line to get it cheaper. - I look on line and then buy from a Retailer knowing the extra I am prepared to pay for the personal service - and I have to say that most times you can now get most things cheaper in person than on line if that is your only motivation for buying.

All very noble I am sure

The problem for all of us is keeping your pound local

Most town centre shops will be part of a national or international set up designed to pay minimal tax whilst importing most of the goods from abroad.

Therefore all you do is part pay a minimum wage to a shop assistant. Shop assistant or warehouse picker, that's the extent of keeping our pounds local .

I realise there remain a few 'independents' , becoming fewer.

Price in this town will always be king.

Always

My OH has a shop, she's local. Her stock is not, so the majority of those local pounds spent still leave the locality, but at least she gets some of it! Her seamstress is local, and as thats a service with little stock involved that sort of thing does indeed stay local, until she spends it on shopping then its offshore again.
