I know that no offence was taken but how is anyone supposed to know that when they reply to a first time poster?

I have seen people new to the forum who have posted something then never to return because they have been ridiculed.

In real life if I was at a gathering where most people knew each other and then a stranger came in and asked a question....my first words to her wouldn't be rude or insulting (even if it was meant as a joke). I happen to think that forum etiquette should follow the same principle.

I don't wish to argue or fall out with @PeterD , we just have different opinions about it that's all.

I know what you mean. To be honest if I hadn't had any useful replies I would have left the forum but not because I was offended but because I was asking for genuine advice on Huntington and all the jokes on Cannock I've heard many times! so were not telling me anything constructive. it was good to hear a positive view! some people may be more easily put off though!x

TBF most people on www.staffordforum.com aren't overly au fait with the ins & outs of Huntington, on account of the fact that we overwhelmingly don't live there.

This is www.staffordforum.com and not www.huntingtonforum(Error 404 not found ) .com, and it isn't really our fault that Huntington hasn't its arse in gear to the same extent.

I personally would enjoy living there because i would rag the arse orf of the Chase in a fat-tyred stylee ona much more regular basis.

The Primary School looks interesting, aesthetically speaking...

Also I don't want to live in a world that won't allow us to mock Cannock. What is this, communist Russia.
I too eschew that nightmarish vision - whatever next?

Thank-you for some genuine information and some more positivity! Yes I know Cannock town centre isn't great and it's somewhere I wouldn't particularly shop anyway my question was about Huntington itself. Yes I read the news item about the school and yes I will definitely be visiting. The school my children are in now is lovely on the outside little village school but not that great and hasn't been for a while so it's hard to judge. Thanks again its good to read something that is actually of use to me!

I lived in Cannock for a year, never had any problems, my brother now lives in Heath Hayes and I have a friend who lives there too, both seem to like the area, I found the people to be friendly and if I'm honest probably more friendlier than some Stafford folk.

My daughter lives in Hednesford, I fear for my grandson and his proximity to Cannock. I did check for extra toes.

Thank-you! In sure we will be fine. The move was out of our hands anyway so we will make the best of it. Good and bad everywhere even in the village I live now it's just covered up by pretty houses and better accents. I didn't realise there was a Cannock V Stafford thing!!!lol thanks again for a positive post!

I used to live in Heath Hayes. I lived there for 4 years before moving back to Stafford.

I enjoyed where I lived and Cannock wasn't too bad for a night out, however there are a lot of idiots about and no decent restaurants (unless you want an Indian). The town centre offered nothing that I wanted to buy, however it does have a good choice of out of town retailers.

Everywhere in Cannock is very easy to get to - unlike Stafford.

Apparently there is a new gig venue in Cannock, they have a pretty good Cash tribute on there.

Hi thankyou. I know Cannock town centre isn't great and it's not somewhere I would go on a night anyway but I could say that for most Midlands towns! Thanks for another positive view though. I do like the fact you can easily get to other places I'm without a car at the moment and public transport where i am now is very hit and miss!

It's actually nice to have the poster of a Where should I live? / What's this place like? thread follow it through. The majority never even log on again after starting the ball rolling. Perhaps they view the thread as a visitor, without logging back on, and then abandon it - or perhaps they just don't bother coming back at all..?

If I was deported to Cannock, I would try for the northern edges.

I too temporarily resided in Heath Hayes, under duress, and I was actually pleasantly surprised.

A friend of mine lived there from the early 60s until very recently - it certainly still had a bit of 'community' about it.

I've lived in this house for 35 years and I can, from the ten houses each side, on both sides of the road (i.e., forty houses in total) admit that I know six surnames, and two of them are brothers...

In the first half of that period, I would have known more than three-quarters of them.
