Moving to staffordshire, any advice?

Hi guys

I'm waiting for my house to sell and then I'll be moving from Cheshire to staffordshire. Not sure whether it'll be buying or renting.

I have two children 8 and 4 and I've also not long qualified as a personal trainer so I'm looking up at setting business there.

I have no idea where tho?? I've seen stone and walton on the hill has good ofstead school reports.

1.I need to think about work as I'll be working around my kids school hours. Until I find a registered babysitter... Still dubious
2. Any halls etc that I can rent to put on classes
3. Areas nearby that I should target, where people can afford to pay 1-1 classes (by that I mean no offence I just need to make a profit and survive in a new area)
4. Areas to live

Any advice would be fantastic:
Schools
Areas to sell myself
Halls etc to rent
Areas to live

I also drive so it's not too bad moving. I do quite like villages and areas that aren't over run by lots of kids. I don't mind travelling for my job, if I live somewhere but work in the next town.. just thinking of expenses at the moment.

Oooo sorry about that massive message I like to talk lol

Thank you x

People will probably sift mosquitoes but i shouldn't worry too much on the school front - much of a muchness, sort of thing.
Walton-on-the-Hill has money, most of the villages do too - Gnosall, Eccleshall, Acton Trussell etc etc.
All of the above have community hall type whatsits.
Wildwood, obviously.

There's quite a lot of fitness classes / personal trainers that I know of in Stafford it's self, but there's a good seslction of halls to rent pretty much everywhere.

Where about is wildwood and what sort of area is that?

I've been looking at stone, any other villages or areas I should be looking at?

Nowhere mega expensive for the time being, just to get up and running.

Thanks

Hello :)

Stay in Stone - theyre all quite well off there ;) & theres a nice big park for if you want to do outdoor fitness....

Stear clear of Derrington as a village - its a bit like an old peoples home - although great if you dont want to listen to loads of kids....

Hixon has a park with some Adult excercise equipment, as does the Meadow Road Park in Stafford (not such a nice area though, LOTS of screaming kids).

I did start a thread on 'Adult Playgrounds' on here sonewhere (cant find it now though) which should give areas with adult excercise equipment.....dont Google that phrase, god knows what youll get!

Good luck :)

Enjoying a drop of red.

Whilst that is pretty much true for the secondary schools, it is not the case with the primary schools. Stafford has a high number of excellent primaries, but also some real shockers. A glance at the Ofsted website is well worth it.

Yeah I'd stay clear of derrington , unless u want to keep my 2 children and about 4 other company lol! I love it here still. Parkside is a nice area , apart from chaos from the new development being built over the road , has primary and secondary school on doorstep though which is a bonus

Thanks guys!

Yes I've been on the ofstead, found some schools already!

Just waiting for my house to sell now.

I'm coming to the area next weekend and staying over, so I can explore a bit too.

Any decent pubs you'd like to recommend and where to eat would be great ☺️

Why stay clear of derrington? Never heard of it so I'm just being nosey trying to get a feel for the area.

I think I've been to parkside! Is that charnley road way, where they've blocked off the road so it's a one way system?

I'm still getting used to this thread so bare with me lol

Thanks everyone

I think Alee is just warning you about her kids, and has failed to mention her escaping rabbits.

Parkside is where the temporary one-way is - Charnley Road is off Sandon Road, down near the MOD site.

I also seen barnfields school as an option, just looked at the map and I'm taking it that's in the wildwood area.

Right ok so well off areas I could work 1-1 would be stone, eccleshall, walton on the hill?

Areas to live, wildwood as a starting point?

Defo don't want to be over run by kids, even tho I have them. I enjoy the peace.

Around this way in council areas they dump their kids on the street and don't care... I can't be doing with that.

I also don't mean offence by that

Yeah parkside is up top of stone road right at roundabout . Where one way system is :-D. DerringtonS alright , just not a lot of kids . Very quiet here , but they do have a small basic park and the millennium green . Nice place just a bit isolated
