That's my thought. They'll come here for Sunday dinner, then trot off back round the corner when they've had enough. This house is goin be so quiet tho.

More cats definatly, a whole ROOM for cats (& maybe some icecream freezers ;) ) lots of tiny kittens that I can come & fuss but not have to clean up after.....

Ooooh that sounds like a brilliant idea! Of course, the big ice cream tubs are all for me, the taste size are for everyone else.
And more Black Kitties!

Went to Apedale Community Country Park today in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, where I was attacked by a million brown/black biting flys - what the hell are they? They drew blood but are quite small, slightly smaller than a house fly? Anyone know how to deter them?
Flys & biting insects never used to bite me, they always headed for the husband, but since becoming diabetic I seem to attract them like crazy, Ive been attacked by midges & horse flys all week in the garden & a few of these little brown/black flys, but today was like a scene from 'The Birds', but with flys :( Help!

Blandford flies fit the description, but I didn't think they were this far north. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blandford_fly

Not quite everyone - the ones that didn't get you that week came a few miles further down the coast to where I was and got me!!
I get similar, I can still see the bites I got in Wales about 6 weeks ago but everyone else was left alone!
Were you both by water? In the garden they only attack me in the paddling pool, and this afternoon I was by a large pool.....they didnt attack me later in.the afternoon when I was away from the water....

This is what it looks like.....although it says they dont bite..... http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flesh_fly
The ones that bit me hurt, made blood run down my leg - after theyve finished it doesnt hurt to much - until you touch it, then it itches & swells like crazy for hours!

Faffin vampire flies!

The Lifesystems stuff is some properly good sh*t - tried 'n' tested sort of thing.

Why on earth would you waste such a fantastic name as 'flesh fly' on something that doesn't tear into flesh? Shurely 'carrion fly', or some such, would have freed up the name for a fly more deserving of it?

We would still have -
...vampire flies!
- in reserve if something even more badass were to turn up in future.

Not always much with the forward thinking, these Biologists, are they?

had an absolute disaster - had a hard drive failure in my PC and lost every single photo I've ever taken :(

I had literally just started to run a backup on it, and the backup is also now buggered :(

I could cry...

Oh crap.

Is it an external drive? Sometimes it's the enclosure which causes the problem. Taking it out of the enclosure may get it to work again.

Or try a data recover specialist - but prepare for a big bill.
