Thanks for the advice guys!

I feel my sacrifice has already been made, I am miles away from my hometown, family, friends, I quit a job I loved to move here, left behind some amazing voluntary roles I had.

I spend the day staring at the walls, often going all day without speaking to another soul.
As my cars being repaired I can't get out or about - I don't even know where the local chippy is! Chips people chips!

I don't want to be like ships in the night - I would rather have no money and be broke and happy together than rich and never see each other - (rich is an exaggeration - they're not paying me THAT much!)

I don't know if to just say I'll do it - get my foot in the door and try and find other opportunities / swap hours, but I don't want to waste their time if I'm just sitting there thinking of how to get out the quickest.

I have a month of training to complete before I officially start - I don't want to sit through all of that then turn round at the end and say 'nah found something else bye!'

But it seems like a really good job - and I was so excited about it!

Jeeze rant - sorry! xxx

Well the parcel I ordered last week on amazon prime is still nowhere to be seen, estimated delivery Thursday 15th but last seen in Northern Ireland. I've called amazon twice and they just said to wait, emailed this morning (it was a present I needed for this morning) and they just cancelled the order and told me to re-order if I still wanted the stuff. One item has gone up by £7 since I ordered, another had a voucher for £7 off that they won't refund, so if I actually want to get the stuff not only will it be a week after the next day prime delivery date I was stated but I shall also be £14 more out of pocket.

I stopped using ebay because of dodgy sellers, now I find amazon themselves being cocks!

EDIT: I should add that this parcel went through the Yodel depot in Stoke, the same one my microwave disappeared at. They obviously have problems, but amazons handling of this is a piss take.
I've got a similar issue with Amazon (not prime though) - ordered something last Monday (not yesterday) & it said delivery would be between last Saturday & yesterday. Then last Wednesday I got an email (in my spam) stating it had been dispatched, was being sent by Royal Mail & will reach me between next Wednesday (tomorrow) & the following Friday! I know royal mail snail mail are slow - but bloody hell!

Amazon really have gone downhill in the CS department lately, the attitude on each call has basically been so ****** what?

Soooo, what have you got to do now? Just wait for them to decide if they want to employ you or not?

Years ago when I was a single parent I worked full time in an office. When I went for the interview I asked about the fact that on their details it said 'some weekend work may be required' - now I didn't want to waste my time or theirs so I made it clear that I wouldn't be available for weekend work as I had 2 small children & could only get after school care for them, they said 'that's fine, we never work weekends anyway, its just company policy that we put it on the details', they offered me the job & I accepted ....

... I bet you can guess where this is going....

...a few months later they wanted 'volunteers' to work on a Saturday, I said I couldn't do it & their reply was 'you signed the contract so you have to do it or face dismissal'

Some employers are just assholes!!!

My seven and a half year old car has just blown its first bulb - it's only the nearside front sidelight, so I might wait until it warms up a bit.

Rang up and basically laid everything out on the table - said I was prepared to be flexible, I don't mind working the occasional weekend to help out and support others but if the job was permanent weekends for the next forever then it just want going to work for me!

Turns out they must want me - the lady was lovely and said she 'really thought my enthusiasm and experience would bring something to the team - what would my ideal hours be?'

I am now not working weekends!

Hurrah!

Thankyou all - I know I'm a complete disaster!

The fact that you take the time to reply to me, impart your wisdom and advice means so much xxxx Thankyou xxx

I'm sorry if you thought that my reply sounded flippant...I didnt mean it to. Its just that lots of people are in the same situation as you.

When I was with my first husband he was a fireman (nights, weekends) and I worked in a shop in Hanley. I would come home and he would have left for work. My friend was married to a copper ...same problem. People in the army..same problem.

When my now other half and I got together he worked/lived in Manchester and I was in Stone. We both sold our houses and moved here. Neither of us knew anyone but at least my friends were only down the road. He got a job in Birmingham. He had relocated for me and half the time I wasnt here as my job took me all over the world. We just got on with it. Gradually we got out, joined community groups, made friends.
He now loves Staffordshire and he works in Birmingham and says moving down was the best thing he ever did. I knew he must have felt a bit homesick at first but .."we are where we are, lets deal with things" is a saying of his. He met people through work which helped.

You say you cant get out because your car is being repaired. How about walking or getting the bus and having a mooch around to find that chippy? Much better than sitting in feeling sad. If you walk round the neighbourhood you may getting chatting to others in the same boat who want to talk or meet new people. (massive apologies if you cant walk for some reason).
I do feel for you if you are unhappy but hopefully given time things will change.

I see that you have got the job after all without working weekends. I'm pleased that it worked out in the end. x

Hey @Carole , don't be silly! It wasn't flippant!

Sometimes we all need a kick in the ass to get started!

I have two different voluntary roles locally that are starting in Feb - so that will give me a great chance to meet all sorts of new people and get to know the area better!

I have made good friends with my neighbor and we are going to take her little dog out for walks!

I know I have gotten myself down in the dumps recently (and its me that put me there!) And so its my own responsibility to get myself out!

For me its family I miss the most - I am very close to my mum and we have only ever had each other - sometimes a phone call isn't the same as a hug!

I thank you for all your fab ideas!

I am endeavoring to be less or a Moaning Myrtle/ Debbie Downer and more of a Sassy Sally/ Proactive Penny (none of these are my actual name lol!)

Took nearly 3 hours to get to Worcester and not such a good idea to stop off at Frankley Southbound services after deciding it's either that or nip behind a bush before the traffic moved a few inches again. Don't know if I went in the lorry drivers entrance but it was rather rough . Added to that I could hardly stand up on the black ice on the ice-rink of a carpark (at least they had gritted the steps!)
Great journey back sort of made up for it though :)

Think I encountered 'the mad cyclist' by Gaol rd roundabout. Either him, or another nutter shouting at the stationary traffic as he cycled across the front of it.

I am going to celebrate by buying some new pajama bottoms!

I ripped mine by doing a 'hurrah hurrah' dance....
Best laugh I've had all day!!! It's even funnier when you've met a forumite and can visualise it. You just made my day :D

Great news too, btw. Chuffed to bits for you! Some employers like to see someone determined to get the action they want and that alone has likely just helped you.  from me :)

I have a couple of customers that like me to tell them off when they download something they shouldn't have. Sometimes I think that's quite normal... other times it worries me ;)
