Lying in the spare room nursing the worst case of man flu (or could even be manbola) in living history. Coughing up all sorts of crap, hot and cold shivers, headache from hell, the works.

Oh sounds awful. Hope you're feeling better soon

Awww, thanks. Not too bad I suppose considering what some folks on here have had to contend with.
At work now with a lem sip but giving it 'til about 09:30 to get the day set up then toddling off home. There's a sofa, quilt and soup with my name on them.

A mundane fact for readers but not mundane for me.

Yes, I forgot to mention that I went for an interview the other week.

My first interview in 30 years!

Last interview was in 1987.

Good job I didn't wear the same outfit. :P

They did like me and I have a job.
Without giving too much away..... where you going? And congratulations xx

I'm working my way up to toast. White toast with proper butter smothered in either marmite or peanut butter.
One of the joys of this time of year is not having to put the butter in the fridge; the amount that spreads naturally on a cooled piece of thick toast is one of life's simple pleasures.

Well actually, in my excitement I've totally exaggerated the whole thing. Seriously exaggerated.

It's not a proper job, as in paid employment.

It's a volunteer job.

I'm just so thrilled that someone thinks that I'm useful for something. Although to be fair they'd probably take anyone.

Anyway I've got an induction tomorrow .

I have toyed with getting a real job but I'm not qualified to do anything. I could perhaps do shop work which I'd probably like but I don't want to work Saturday or Sunday. I'm a bit picky.

Oh yes, the volunteer job. It's at The Gatehouse. :)
I'm so looking forward to it.

Is it an usher? I always fancied doing that if I had some time, the shows you can see for free.

If you don't have to work, don't work! Volunteering means you do something you want on your own terms, which sounds perfect to me :)

This is true, I don't need to work for financial reasons, I just felt I needed to do something.

Yes, welcoming people and showing them to their seat.
You get given a list of shows and you tell them which nights you are available.
So you can do as much or as little as you like.

I think the next recruitment will be January now.
Door security?

@Carole is a 'well-known violator' to international security agencies. I'm surprised that she got through the checks..
Get it right. I'm a "well known violator of USA agricultural regulations".
Or to put it another way, a fruit smuggler. :embarrass:

Their are a couple of ushers there who are little martinets. I rather suspect it won't be long before you have 'educated' them.

Went to Riverside earlier this aft. What annoyed me was that along our route from M&S to SOS there were four piles of dog poo. Two of which had been trodden in and spread out for a considerable distance.

I mean what the hell is wrong with some dog owners? Unless it's a guide dog type thing, a shopping centre is no place to take a dog, so don't you twats and do pick up their mess if you have to you verminous scum*!!!!!!

*Apologies to the people of South Thanet for any confusion there.

Finding the massive yellow and black spider on the massive web swinging outside my patios windows rather fascinating. Every so often he climbs along to devour the meal he's caught in it. I did remove the orginal web yesterday , carefully putting the spider on the fence...should have known he'd rebuild it ! Don't think he was very amused when I freed the daddy longlegs that was to become his tea though.

Found out Tesco don't want to speak to me on the phone...... automated message to look on-line instead for the answer on each option I selected  Already done that, but wanted to check something before I walked all the way down there and back for nothing ....might have a rethink and shop elsewhere now.:(
